Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.
Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.
From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Centre, shopping in Cardiff is a delight. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants in which to rest awhile. Those by Cardiff Bay offer particularly pleasant views.
Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre. Another year 2000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and football matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.
Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city centre.
Loved the shops bars and resurants. The bay is lovely.sad with beggers and people sleeping rough so sad.but a few got bit out of hand.think police should patrol in evening as was quite scary for children and elderly people.

I'm biased because I'm Welsh and was born and brought up near & in Cardiff! It's a great city, with everything a tourist could want in the way of culture, sightseeing, history, attractions, amenities, shopping etc. Above all the people are generally really welcoming and friendly. There are so many interesting and diverse places to eat and drink in the center of the city, within easy walking distance but there are also many great places to visit within 30-60 minutes of Cardiff, on public transport.

Cardiff is a great city.
Cardiff is a great city. The compact layout makes it easy to explore. City centre is pedestrianised in parts which makes it a better experience. The indoor market is a wonder for foodies. Lots of good chains in general but also some great ones further out on City road. (Shaam Nights) Great to be able to get to the sea so quickly.

Always an absolute pleasure to spend a few days in Cardiff.
Always an absolute pleasure to spend a few days in Cardiff.
A sophisticated capital city with zesty character, big enough to be interesting, intimate enough to get your arms around.
The historic Victorian/Edwardian covered shopping arcades are a real pleasure e.g. Brogue Trader for fine gentleman's shoes where the Service itself was worth it as highly educational theatre. The authentic old-style pubs, like The Albany in Roath were a friendly treat. Similarly the Art Galleries like the Albany Gallery are ever-changing delights.
The Rugby was a magnificent occasion as ever. Casanova Restaurant is a hidden gem, and the food & Italian wines are magnificent.
Take a boat trip from the Castle Ground down to The Bay...a treat.

Cardiff is a fantastic place to visit with plenty of bars,...
Cardiff is a fantastic place to visit with plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants. Some with live entertainment.
Also theatres and so many shops, you’ll be spoilt for choice!
We ate in Ty Madeira (St Mary Street) the food was excellent we had the two course lunch menu. We also visited the Live Lounge (The Friory) and saw many live singing acts, all very good.
The location of the hotel couldn’t have been anymore perfect. We could be in the city centre within mins with all the shops and restaurants that we could ask for. We enjoyed the park across the road and a visit to the castle. The river trip down to Cardiff Bay was fantastic with the boat leaving a minute walk across from the hotel in the park. The parking onsite was a real bonus. The hotel staff were all so helpful and restaurant staff were exceptional during our stay.
Lovely room on the quieter side of the hotel. Easy walk to the Cardiff bay area and its attractions and nightlife. An approx 30 minute easy flat walk in to Cardiff city centre so could leave the car at the hotel to visit the parks, museums and castle - countless shops and the lovely historic market hall which was a highlight for us!! All staff we encountered at the hotel were lovely and the room was comfortable and clean on arrival.
Check in was smooth and I was so impressed with the room! The bathroom felt like luxury. The area the Hotel is in feels quite secluded, and very quiet - it doesn’t feel like you are in Cardiff Bay at all but you can easily walk into the city centre or down to the docks in no time.
Breakfast was great and staff were helpful regarding allergen info also.
We went to a gig at Cardiff Bay so the location was ideal for us, but it was also only a 10 minute cab to the city centre. The price we paid for the property was excellent and it was a very nice touch leaving a bottle of Prosecco for us on arrival. All the beds were very comfortable and we had plenty of space to go about our days.
The hotel is very close to the railway station and the city centre but if there are no events at the stadium the area is pretty quiet. It is a good base to explore the city and you can also walk to Cardiff Bay in half an hour along the river. The room was basic but clean and the staff are very helpful.
I highly recommend this hotel if you are traveling with kids. There is a museum for children really close and the neighboorhood is super nice to go for a walk (much morr quiet than the city centre). The rooms are great, specially the beds and the views. There are plenty of restaurants around.
A lovely spacious, well equipped apartment located in Cardiff Bay near to the city centre. There were lots of places nearby to eat and drink and the city centre was just a short walk away. The beds were really comfortable and we slept really well. We would highly recommend this place to stay!
Location and room were excellent. Close to the city centre, with enough restaurants and bars around to grab food/drinks. Luckily our room was at the other side of the hotel, so we didn't have any noise complaints at all, even though the hotel is next to an area with a ton of pubs.
Just a short walk into Cardiff Bay. Lots of bus routes near the hotel, altho the city centre is only about 15minute walk away. Secure car park (for £10/ night). Really like having the benefits of a hotel but all the facilities in the room too for cooking.
The hotel's location is strategic. It is close to the main amenities and facilities of Cardiff. The city centre, the castle, the university and Bute park are within walking distance. Plus, there are many shops and restaurants right outside the hotel door.
Loved that you had washer and dryer services available. The proximity to the Bay is great and to the performance we attended nearby. I like that there is a steak house so close to the hotel and check in and out was quick and easy.
Excellent city centre location, 5 mins from train station and everything you may need while staying in Cardiff. Room clean, but sparsely furnished, very helpful staff, good breakfast.
The apartment was spacious & stylish. It was a short walk to Mermaid Quay and also not far into Cardiff City Centre. The free included parking spot was very convenient.
It is a budget hotel. It is a clean, modern and friendly place for an overnight stay. Excellent value for money. Next to the central station and in the city centre.
