We liked the old town which was very pretty but not pretentious. A bit run down in places but lots of new developments too, eg the Gloucester Docks. Lots of independent pubs and restaurants, not overpriced. Friendly people. Lots of history. Everything really close to centre and quiet for a city (except for the seagulls)!

Beautiful cathedral which is what we came to see.
Beautiful cathedral which is what we came to see. Good transport links to other towns - Worcester and Tewkesbury. Docks area is attractive with restaurants, bars etc. and the area around the cathedral has some nice shops, tea rooms etc.

It’s very easy to reach Gloucester from the hotel especially if you like shopping at the Gloucester Quays. Found it very handy to get to Stroud and Painswick as well and the M5 motorway.
I personally wouldn’t use the bistro pub for meals at the Gloucester quays- the high orchard. Microwave meals with the wrong prices still in the menus and bar staff manager who couldn’t give a toss.
Cheltenham is nice to eat in if you fancy a day out and lots of dog friendly places too.

We wanted lots of choice of food and night time entertainment . Although the food we had was good in the main it was the usual branded restaurants. Night time bar entertainment very limited. Not very much high octane adventure to be had here. Won’t be rushing back

Yes gloucester is a nice area.
Yes gloucester is a nice area. But I would avoid staying at the new Inn, the management isn't fit for purpose. I've bren in other places with better management and more customer awareness. Management highly sensitive, room needs refurbishment. Just remember if you do stay there avoid saying something management doesn't like at the new inn, or you end up with a wooden bed, no shower or mattress. They get your money and you get free accommodation from his majesties police force. Don't waste your money, there is better accommodation in the area. Otherwise the area has great views, canal walks, and walks in general. And other stuff going on for it. It's a gorgeous place
The hotel is well located just outside Gloucester on the main road network between Gloucester and Cheltenham. It has ample parking outside and an attractive modern airy appearance. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The decor is modern and spacious with a pleasant bar and restaurant area. There is a leisure centre with swimming pool and gym although we did not have the opportunity to try it. Our bedroom was small but well equipped and very clean and comfortable.
Finding the small car park at the back of the hotel (not NCP). We parked in small Gloucester City Council car park with was £6.00 per day. This was very convenient to access to the hotel from the rear.
I think it was £17.95 a day in NCP adjoining this car park. There was another multi-storey NCP nearby not sure how much this was but I think this is the one hotel recommended parking in.
Fridge and Microwave in the room was very useful.
the husband & wife team proved to be a charming couple. Breakfast (cooked by the wife) was excellent the full Monty consisted of 2 eggs, sausage, rashers of bacon, tomatoes, beans and toast. Tea & fruit juice as normal. My room was very clean and comfortable and the bed comfortable. I have no adverse comments to make and I would certainly recommend the hotel. The cost per room, the cleanliness, the food were all of a very high standard.
Perfect combination of traditional architecture with modern amenities!👍
Amazing location next to the unique Gloucester Cathedral in the city centre!💞
Added bonus,
next door (part of the same historic building) one of the UK's top 10 restaurants! Ye Olde Restaurant ✌️💥
What more could a visitor ask for?
This will be my home in Gloucester👏👏✌️😉😘
Thank you dearest Shahram and Rebecca 💞
We need a last minute hotel on a long commute from North to South of England and multiple issues with the road network. We found this property and telephoned them - they were magnificent in arranging a child cot last minute for us, although they did not erect the cot they did put it in the room. They also provided us with 2x bottles of water on check in.
Perfect location. Just outside Gloucester Central town. Walking distance to the town. Hosts were lovely. Very proud of their location and Gloucester. My room was full of caricature. As was the the building. Check out the photos around the hotel and explore. Lots of history on this building on London Road. Thank you Karen for everything thing ❤️
Very happy with the facilities, check in and location of the hotel. Did the job for an overnight stay to see Gloucester RFC at Kingsholm, walking distance to the ground! Very clean room, a fridge and other amenities made my stay simple, easy and great value for money. Many thanks to all the staff there.
Air Conditioned room, modern and stylish decor, full facilities available including SPA and Gym. Great food, attentive staff, helpful, happy and hard working from what we witnessed. Room service was also offered as well as a very reasonable breakfast. Best Hotel I have ever stayed in.
Easy access, big car park, clean rooms, comfy beds - as you can expect from Holiday Inn Express chain. Can't fault it for 1,2 nights stay. It's basic but very solid group of hotels. Gloucester branch confirmed it all.
The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring the Cotswolds. Gloucester quays was only 15 mins drive from the hotel and has some fantastic restaurants. Lovely Cotswolds villages less than half an hours drive.
Good hotel in lovely setting. 10 minutes Out of town . Good large clean room. Quiet evening in residents bar, good prices.
Served our purpose well. Day and evening in Gloucester. Easy taxi links.
The rooms are quite spacious and comfortable. They have better facilities than most hotels with fridge and microwave so that you can snack away in your own room easily.
