The Kennels was built in 1871 this Victorian former Gamekeepers cottage for Glen of Rothes Estate. Sleeps 4 sharing two king size bedrooms. Owned by my family since 1990, traditional sand stone built, with a slate roof this cottage has now been sympathetically refurbished to provide comfortable holiday accommodation. Double glazing and central heating and has a fully equipped kitchen my guests can feel at home cooking a meal or just as easy travel the short distance to The Station hotel in Rothes or The Craigellachie Hotel or Highlander Inn all with their whisky bars and food.
My name is Roy Mathers, a "Speysider" born and bred, brought up at The Macallan Distillery on the Easter Elchies Estate only 7 miles (12 minute drive) from where The Kennels cottage is located. I am a carpenter and joiner to trade and ran that business for many many years. For 10+ years I also had a business as a local tour guide to the Speyside area and North East Highlands of Scotland from Inverness in the west to Aberdeen in the east and Aviemore in the south. I have met many 1000s of people during that time introducing them to all that our area has to offer.
Situated in the Glen of Rothes on the main route A941 only (8 miles) 10 minutes drive from the town of Elgin which has plenty of amenities such as 24hr supermarkets Tesco and ASDA (Wallmart) also a Lidls and Aldi (not 24hrs) Nearest shops 2.5 miles in the village of Rothes. Nearest Distilleries with visitor centres : Glen Grant distillery less than 4 minutes drive (2.3 miles) and 8 others you can visit within a 10 miles radius such as The Macallan - Aberlour - Cardhu - Glenfiddich - Balvenie - Glen Moray - Ballindalloch - Glenrinnes Within 21 miles of the cottage: Benromach - Strathisla - The Glenlivet On the Number 36 Bus route, which can take you to Elgin, Dufftown and Aberlour every hour. Speyside Way long distance walking route, access at Craigellachie village 10 mins drive (5.5 miles) Huge sandy beaches at Lossiemouth & Findhorn only 25 minutes drive (14 miles) Glenlivet Estate and Distillery with 57,000 acres of rolling hills and great way-marked walks, 35 minutes drive (21 miles)
