Situated in the heart of Spili, above Mylos Café, a family run business since 1989, Casa Leone overlooks the lion head fountains for which Spili is famous. It has views towards Vorizi mountain, framed by the giant plane trees in the square below. Spili is a large village mid-way between the city of Rethymno and the south coast of Crete. It has several supermarkets, a post office, an ATM, a health centre and a number of cafes and tavernas. In spring the area is popular with botanists as the plateau above Spili is internationally recognized for its variety of orchids and wild flowers. There are many walks in the area. Spili is a 20 minute drive from the beaches on the south coast and is 26 kilometers from Rethymno on the north coast.
