Great location! Very friendly and welcoming staff. We were in Achill for the Battle for the Lake festival and Lavelle's Seaside House was perfect our stay. Would highly recommend!

Patrick Lavelle who runs Lavelle's Seaside House and Mickey's Bar is the 4th generation of the Lavelle family providing accommodation to visitors and serving the local community.

Property information

Established in 1952 Lavelle's Seaside House, Achill Island, is situated in the picturesque fishing village of Dooega on the Wild Atlantic Way and a 5 minutes walk from one of Achill's many Blue Flag beaches. We provide quality en - suite accommodation. Our five modern double/twin en-suite have stunning sea views across the Atlantic to Clare Island, Inishboffin and Inishturk, each bedroom has a double and single bed. has its own sea view. We have also two an en-suite family rooms, one with a double and two single beds and the other has two double beds. Guests can also enjoy our comfortable residents lounge with an open fire. And next door is Mickey's Bar - where you'll find a great pint, the occasional sing song, experts in every field and stories galore - all true of course.

Neighbourhood information

Dooega is a small fishing village with its own Blue Flag beach on Achill's Wild Atlantic Way cradled between the Atlantic Ocean and Knockmore and Minaun hills. It looks south west across the Atlantic to Clare Island, Inishboffin and Inishturk. It is also the home of Colaiste Acla, an activity based Irish language school. Dooega is miles away from the hustle and bustle of modern living. On a calm evening the turf smoke rises skyward and scents the air just as it did in Paul Henry's time a century ago. Enjoy the longest daylight in Western Europe and walk to Dooega Head until you see Bills Rock or stroll down to the 'pier' and beach or just chill out and enjoy the spectacular Island scenery from your own bedroom window before ending your day with a pint in Mickey's Bar. Drive/cycle the many scenic drives on Achill Island such as Keem Bay, the old Atlantic Drive, climb to Minaun Heights for a birds eye view of the Island, walk the full length of Keel beach, learn to surf or even kite surfing, cycle the Westport to Achill Greenway, walk through Achill's Deserted Village, have an Atlantic swim or just switch off and absorb the wild rugged Atlantic scenery.
