The location, exotic themes, access to the kitchen, property and room security, walking distance to a deserted beach and on Thursday nights, the bar is heaving! The music is amazing! Pool table and bar snacks, great beer and Guinness.

It was a good hostel. Comfy beds and the added bonus of having a bar downstairs was brilliant after a long day of driving. There were things to do locally and the beach was only around 15 mins away (by car). I loved the code lock to get into the bedroom and bathroom as it meant I don’t have to carry or remember a key (dangerous if you’ve had a few too many in the bar though! 😁) At breakfast there was a good range of things to have. The staff were welcoming.

The Valley House is an ideal base to discover the wonders of Achill Island. The house is historic and I am delighted that I found myself staying at this wonderful place. The staff were friendly and helpful and made our stay a delight. We loved mixing with the other guests and people from the local community in the bar. We stayed during the weekend of St. Patrick’s Day and we enjoyed some memorable nights in the bar.

It was such a peaceful comfortable place and the house was very well kept and interesting - you are left to your own devices to serve breakfast as you would at any hostel but it is above and beyond most hostels I'd say. Very comfortable beds, great showers - lots of room. The live traditional Thursday night music in the evening was amazing - we actually came to stay here because we knew it was on - and we weren't disappointed.

We were a group of 8 friends and booked two four-bed-rooms. The house was fantastic and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The kitchen area was good for preparing dinner and there was enough room to eat and spend the evening playing board games. Great stay and location - I'm actually sad that we only stayed for one night. Definitely worth staying for the whole weekend! There were also vegan breakfast options available!

Very nice place with a pretty decoration inviting you to relax. There are private rooms and also dormitories (youth hostel). The staff is very friendly and attentive. There is a pub on the ground floor. The continental breakfast is unlimited : coffee, tea, chocolate, orange juice, cereals, eggs, cold meats, cheese, varieties of bread, butter and jam. The room is spacious and the bathroom clean with hygiene products available. Little extra : the well-equipped shared kitchen, ideal for spending less and getting to know each other. There is also a spacious living room with TV. I highly recommend for a stay on Achill Island.

great location for our needs to travel and see this part of Ireland. I think there were only 6 rooms. Extremely happy with the staff especially Zach and Rory, who were very helpful in getting us settled. Breakfast was yummy and the bar was cozy with good pints. One night local musicians played Irish music for a few hours. I would stay there again.

The location was really authentic with an antique kitchen dresser and old world feel. Seemed to be original antique furniture. A wonderful place in a wonderful location. The bar was cosy and welcoming. Also the staff were friendly and helpful. A good idea to match the door numbers with bathrooms making it a private bathroom.

We loved the house the decor. The staff were friendly. The bar was so cozy. With beautiful open fire. The kids loved the pool table. The breakfast was delicious and the bedroom was spacious and comfortable and the location around achil is magical. We will definitely be back
