This is a truly fabulous place, completely dark and quiet, and we were incredibly privileged to see the northern lights for three September nights on the trot, getting brighter each night. The cabin is well-equipped, and we very much enjoyed our stay. We did not use the BBQ or outdoor heaters but they were there if we had wished to use them. We went whale watching, and GeoSea (hubby not sure if he fancied it, but we went when it opened and it was lovely and quiet. Very nice spa as it is sea water and so does not smell like sulphur... in case the smell bothers you. Hubby agreed afterwards that it was a highlight of our holiday).

The cabin is family owned and only 10 minutes drive to Húsavík (whale whatching town) and right on the Arctic coast way and the diamond circle very nice house and a quiet place where you can see the northern lights and listen to the sounds of nature. There is room for 4 adult and 2 children, all newly renevated plus a big terrace with outdoor furniture. Amazing nature all around. We offer free Wi-fi. Bed linen and towels. Linen and towels are on site in a bag. Your bag is labelled with your name and date. On departure guest are required to put there linen and towels back in the bag and in storage. Cleaning the house: URGENT All guests have to clean the house before leaving.
We are a family who own the cottage together and we have rented it out for several years during the summer. we live in Akureyri about 60 km from the house and therefore we do not offer house cleaning. but you can contact us by phone and mail anytime. Before departure: The Cabin must be cleaned well and carefully so that the next guest comes to the residence as you want it to be.
The town of Húsavík sits on the eastern shore of Skjálfandi Bay (Skjálfandi meaning Shaky), known around the world as The Whale Capital of Iceland. In the past years whales have been spotted in 98% of all whale-watching trips. Húsavík is also the site of the first house built in Iceland, in the year 860, by Swedish viking Garðar Svavarsson. Húsavík is conveniently located for day trips to most of the major attractions in Iceland. Húsavík served as the setting of the 2020 Netflix film: Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga and was a big inspiration for the song Húsavík, my Hometown. Search for the hashtag #husavikmyhometown and you might see some inspiration for where to go about in Húsavík. Geosea recently opened sea baths that have attracted a lot of attention for their quality and beautiful design. Aðaldals airport (the terminal) is only 3 minutes away and there are scheduled flights to Reykjavík 6 – 7 times a week. Mývatn is in approx. 30 minutes away and Akureyri approx. 40 minutes away if you go through Vaðlaheiðargöng. It is also close to all the main natural pearls of the north and is Mývatn , Bárðardalur, Godafoss , Ásbyrgi , Hljódaklettar and Dettioss , just to name a few, right within reach and are part of the Demantshring . The Diamond Ring is a magnificent 250 kilometers long ring road in the North with five key destinations and unique nature and entertainment to suit everyone. There are also many beautiful and interesting places in Aðaldal that are always fun to visit. There are beautiful and rich fishing spots in the immediate vicinity, and Laxá in Aðaldal is one of the best, which does not need to be described, as in many places you can find high-pitched descriptions of it and its surroundings by hunters and nature lovers. We can also mention Mýrarkvísl , which flows into Laxaánna, and Skjálfandafljótið , which is considered one of the best kept secrets in salmon fishing in Iceland The house is next to Húsavik Airport.
