The hosts Angela and Silvio were very kind. Communication was great before and throughout our stay. The food they left for us for the two days could have fed a family of six! Very well appointed and smart apartment with sea and mountain views in the heart of a town with an interesting history.
Located in the Abruzzo countryside, 6 km from Ortona, La Casa Del Palombaro is set in restored 19th-century buildings. It offers a peaceful garden and rustic-style rooms with a private bathroom.

Beautiful facility and the managers were attentive and helpful. We will return to stay again.

Concetta and Enzo were very welcoming and friendly hosts. Concetta was very passionate and a great cook, beautiful breakfast full of traditional Abruzzo foods and fresh produce.

The city itself is pretty and have a nice view of the port, but lacks attractions. People are weird and regard themselves too high, be prepared to be snubbed by waiters and attendants. There are beaches nearby, which require some hiking to get to. Aside from that, it's just an ordinary small Italian town with nothing special to show for.

Ortona has beautiful views on the coastline of Abruzzo, especially from the castle. There is also a nice seaside promenade. Shopping facilities and restaurants are ample, and yet it is not yet pestered with mass tourism, but offers the traveller an opportunity to enjoy real Italy.

The drive along the coast around Ortona is stunningly beautiful. Its beautiful blue sea and golden sands are so lovely. The sea itself is shallow and great for bathing and small children. Seafood is good and plentiful and the restaurants on the coast and in the town of Ortona itself are varied and good value. We always stop at Ortona on our way down the Via Adriatica on our way south to visit family in Puglia. Of course the Trabochi (wooden fishing platforms on stilts) are something to see and visit.

The town has tons of history.
The town has tons of history. I visited the Battle of Ortona museum and was very moved. I tried to find the local bus that would go near the Canadian military cemetery but someone offered me a ride. I caught the bus back.
The apartment is very clean, spacious and modern, with a large balcony. It is ideal for two couples. The owner, Giorgia, is very helpful and welcoming. The location is central to the town, with nearby supermarket and several good, friendly restaurants. The coastal cycle and running path, Costa dei Trabocchi, is less than a km away and quite brilliant, whilst Ortona is a great base to explore the Abruzzo region.
The place was adorably furnished (beautiful pieces of local craftsmanship, perfectly matches the seaside location). Very close the main tourist attractions (the “trabocchi”). Most importantly, the owner was the absolute best: incredibly kind and attentive, always trying to do whatever he could for us (even got us muffins for breakfast even tho it wasn’t included).
Nice apartment in very good location in city center of Ortona - partial seaview and balcony. Perfect for two people.
Ortona is a beautiful city in very nice area in Abruzzo - there is almost everything within short distance: sea, long beaches, mountains, nice small towns and villages, bigger cities, culture and a lot of history....
This was one of the very best stays of our 6 weeks in Italy. Located right on the beach, very tastefully decorated with a beach theme, a patio to relax in. Great breakfast. But the absolute highlight was the hospitality. Incredibly welcoming, gracious and sociable, nothing was too hard. Ensure a walk on the beach if you stay here.
Great location, comfortable rooms, friendly hosts, and amazing food! Dinner at the restaurant was fantastic, some of the best seafood we have had during our several years in Italy. The salt-crusted sea bass and carbonara al mare con bottarga were especially delicious. Would definitely stay here again!
The appartment was good and comfy. Modern interior and clean. Nevertheless, the appartment was located somewhere in the countryside not as written in the text within the city of Ortona. Its 15 minutes drive away from Ortona or even from the Beach!!
This hotel was recommended to us and it did not disappoint. The location was convenient to downtown Ortona - everything was walkable. It was great that there was a parking garage, and the breakfast was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The apartment is well appointed and stocked. The hosts were very gracious and walked us through all the do’s and don’ts. It has a very homey feel to it. The location was good with an easy walking distance to the center of Ortona.
Hotel Ideale is a town centre hotel with old fashion charm. The rooms are no nonsense and the breakfast is more than adequate. It was out of season when I stayed and so it felt very quiet. There is no easy parking.
- very friendly and polite staff
- beachfront hotel
- despite the renovated rooms, the hotel is outdated (not necessarily a bad thing) offering a nostalgic travel back in time for those born in the 70’s-80’s
Really nice acomodation in quite street but in nearby of everything important in Ortona. Very good communication with owner, which is very kind and helpful.
