At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.
However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.
The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.
The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.

But after spending the next day on our walking tour with Masa and exploring Osaka more - we absolutely loved it! Most tourists appear to head straight for the Dotombori neighborhood, which tends to get massively and ludicrously overcrowded in certain places, while having very little to offer, apart from what is being touted by every single guide, website, or Instagram 'celebrity'. Obviously, Osaka has a lot more to offer: stay away from the crowds, and explore the city on your own.

Osaka is way more relaxed than Tokyo, and there's loads to do and see with children. Three days certainly wasn't enough. We visited Nara (the temple area with friendly wild deer), went to an interactive Team Lab exhibition at the Botanical Gardens, went to Osaka Zoo and visited a pet cafe. It's only 20 minutes from Kyoto and the train system is easy to navigate. Great food and happy vibe.RowennaUnited Kingdom

Due to the heat though, we did taxi back from both locations at reasonable fares. Lawson and 7-11 shops very close by. Laundry facilities were great - 400 yen for a full wash load including detergent. Ice machine available as well. Room was compact - big bed, couch, charging cords, pyjamas and toiletries supplied. Very reasonable room rate for Japan. Clean and well-serviced. Recommend Hotel Cordia. (We didn’t try the restaurant.)

The location was amazing, we when to Universal Japan and the best part was when we out from the park tire the hotel was a 5 minutes walk from the entrance of Universal. They also have a spa that you can check out with a beautiful view. The keep our suitcase for early check in and putting in our room when we was visiting the park. Definitely was a amazing experience in OSAKA .

This station is just one stop away from Namba station with easy access to shopping and food outlets at Dotonbori. Rooms were clean and well maintained. The breakfast is of great value offering a large selection of Japanese and Western food including sashimi. Do check out on Google maps the shortest walk from Daikokucho station with Exit 1 bring the closest.
