Fantastic location, courteous and friendly staff, very clean, beautiful old fashioned hotel, with beautiful wooden flooring and furniture but well maintained, not smelly or worn out as some other even pricey hotels and for really good money value. We had a lovely, cosy room on the 3rd floor with balcony with nice view of the street and surroundings however not nosy at all. Breakfast was served a la card out of 3 sets and English breakfast was good, with fruits and eggs, coffee, tea, juice. Fantastic swimming pool made it a really great stay even though in the middle of the city!
Kandy City Hotel is conveniently placed just 700 metres from Kandy Railway Station. Rooms are all tastefully furnished and fitted with en suite bathrooms.

A cultural eye-opener.
A cultural eye-opener. Lots to see and do - but most major attractions are spread far from one another. Expect to take a couple full days touring Kandy and the surrounding areas. Two of my strongest recommendations: the British Was Cemetery. The caretaker has tended the graveyard for decades and knows each detail about each soul laid to rest. Also a sight worth seeing is Peradeniya University. A remarkable campus that lives up to its reputation as one of the nicest in all of South Asia.

The botanical gardens was amazing and really value to visit.
The botanical gardens was amazing and really value to visit. I didn't interested to see the famous temple and another one important thing is in commuting hours the traffic jam was remarkable and every one should calculate staying in the traffic in their schedule .

Transit point to big attractions in Sri Lanka. Ie. Ella, Sigriya, Dambulla and Polonaruwa. Gateway to mountainous region of Sri Lanka. Kandy is also a historical town with famous Temple of Tooth. This town is best served with affordable eateries and several modes of transportation. Cooler weather compared to the Sri Lankan capital city, Colombo.

We have been to Kandy a number of times before, this time it was just a break in the train journey.
It is a big varied city with lots to do and see. The attractions are very well advertised and and tuk tuk or taxi driver will want to take you there.
We like the end of the lake with the hills and the temple.
This place is amazing! It has an amazing pool area where you can relax and watch the sunset over the city. Also, the terrace and indoor area is beautiful and easy to socialise with other guests. The interior of the rooms and bathrooms is also very beautiful. The shower was the best I had in Sri Lanka and finally hot water!! Also, I met some lovely other solo traveler. The location is very nice - just a little bit out of the noisy Kandy up a hill to relax after a full day in the city. But still, you are just a quick Tuktuk drive away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Vista House and would recommend anyone considering staying there. Waruni and the entire staff/family are very welcoming, hospitable and respectful. The rooms are spacious, clean and so beautiful. You can enjoy the view over Kandy from both the balcony and the roof terrace. There is even a bus that goes down and up the hill, if you don't want to rely on TukTuks. The breakfast we got was always delicious and we woke up with the view of the monkeys in the trees. Best stay in Sri Lanka :)
Oshan and his family are the best hosts we had on our 1 month journey through Sri Lanka. They are the kindest people you can meet. Very supportive and great to talk with and learn more about sri lankan culture. If you come to Kandy, definitely stay here as it's absolutely great! We spent 3 nights here and were sad we couldn't extend du to our plans going back to colombo. Rooms are spacious ans very clean, great bathroom with hot water and good water pressure and the breakfast is absolutely outstanding.
Rivora Heights is Exceptional. The best hotel I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. Gorgeous building, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. High quality rooms and high quality service. The hotel has the best room’s in Sri Lanka. The Restaurant Timber Cabin is the most authentic fine dining restaurant in Kandy. the food was delicious and presented in beautiful way. Also The Plunge Pool is the best and relaxing. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Kandy.
The staff were very friendly and supportive. They also offered us sweets and snacks as there was a festival being celebrated in Sri Lanka during our visit which we thought was very gracious of them!
The room was spacious and clean. The location of the hotel was right in the center of kandy and it was easy to walk around to famous sites and restaurants. The food at the cafe was very delicious and affordable!
Would Definitely recommend Cafe Aroma Inn to everyone visiting Kandy!
First of all, we liked the panoramic roof and the swimming pool on the top. You can see all Kandy! The hotel is close to Udawatta Kelle Sanctuary, so we saw two hornbills on the palm tree very close, soaring eagles and monkeys. Our presidential suite was big enough with two separate bedrooms in different corners. The meal was tasty and served at time. The chef and helpers came each time and asked what we prefer. Sri Lankan coffee was strong and hot.
If you are going to Kandy you have to stay here! The location is perfect for basing yourself in the centre with most places just a short walk away. The rooms are modern and very clean which had been sanitized before our stay. This is a family run hotel and the owner (I forgot her name so sorry) is probably one of the nicest people we met during our time in Sri Lanka, she was so helpful and friendly and just great to talk to in general!
Neat clean with all amenities one would need. The staff very thoughtful and helpful. The owners of the property very thoughtful and caring about all are needs. Lastly the breakfast was awesome!!! Best we had eaten anywhere with so many variety of fruits and got the taste of real Sri Lankan food. Huge selection of buffet.
Highly recommend a stay at my city hotel the price of the rooms were very affordable.
Room was very spacious, clean and with all the amenities you would find in a good hotel. All the rooms seem newly built and well maintained. Close to Kandy town but located in a quiet and scenic area with really great views especially from the rooftop pavilion which also serves as the dining area. Breakfast was included and was excellent. Lunch and dinner was available upon request.
The staff was amazing, attentive and very accommodating. They went out of their way to cook Sri Lankan breakfast for us which was not on the many and it was very nice of them. Special thanks to chef Maclawa, Susantha, Pradeep and Dylan.
The room was clean and quite spacious, location of the hotel is right by the lake, quite close to tooth temple and town Center
This hotel is very close to the Temple and the lake and right in Kandy.
All the double rooms were very clean and we had a nice balcony room.
The reception staff and breakfast staff were excellent. Very helpful and friendly.
The top floor bar was excellent, air conditioned and two balconies.
Breakfast was buffet style with some traditional Sri Lankan food.
Upgrading to the king suite is well worth it. The room is super spacious and pretty, and you can have breakfast and watch the sunset from the private balcony. We enjoyed being outside of Kandy in a calmer area, taking tuktuks to and from the hotel was cheap and no issue at all. Staff was very friendly
Our room with lake view was very spacious, with a 'living room' area with TV and couch, and a kitchenette. The bathroom had a great shower with ample hot water. The staff were very attentive. An excellent location in Kandy as it is close to lake level: we could easily walk to the town centre.
The hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was nice, spacious, and clean, and had a beautiful view of Kandy. The food was actually some of the best we have had in Sri Lanka. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Kandy.
Loved the beautiful hotel with a full view of Kandy city with the mountains surrounding it. A must stay hotel if anyone wishes to come to Sri Lanka to see and bask in its natural beauty.
The staff are natural and engaging while the facilities were just amazing.
We liked that it's a whole big apartment with two bathrooms, so it's s real change from other similar priced places. The view over Kandy is magnificent and the air much cleaner than in downtown. The host was very helpful and ready to help with all our queries.
