Jaffna has always been a lovely place to visit.
Jaffna has always been a lovely place to visit. This time we went to Kayts and saw what was left of the old Fort as well as Hammond Hiel across the water. Went to Point Pedro as well...It was a pity that there was a postbox at the northern most point of Sri Lanka - but no postcards or stamps!!! Seeing flamingos and other migrants across from the causeway to Kayts was a bonus. Food is always great and we would recommend Lavin's for some excellent parathas and paper dosai.ppriyanthiSri Lanka - 6.0Scored 6.0
Jaffna was not as I expected .
Jaffna was not as I expected . Staying where I did you really needed your own transportation. I tried unsuccessfully to rent a bike ,and was told by Click hire place they were booked out for a few days ,I wondered about this as I hardly saw any other tourists ,and other companies didn’t return calls . Fort was really disappointing compared to Galle ,and they charge admission ! Restaurants recommended by lonely planet good , but Mangos has closed ,the Malaya is very good ,as is Akshatai ,but avoid Green Grass ,it’s horrible ,I couldn’t imagine staying there ! Very different to Colombo and other suburbs, but Jaffna has its own unique vibe. Pretty laid back I would say. The locals are friendly, but communicating with them could be a little challenging unless you spoke Tamil. Plenty of things to see and many different foods to try.

Its a quiet village with less population. Nice for a quiet getaway. Small and cosy town. Food is good and friendly people. Temples are good to visit too. The trip to Nainativu is unsafe. Boats were overloaded and I was afraid of a stampede because of the crowd. Other than that, everything else was a good experience for me.singam - 10Scored 10

Takes two days to travel around all the attractions, first day travel the east from Jaffna town with a rented vehicle which is much cheaper than the other areas. Nagadeepa temple and Nagamma kovil was most attracted places to visit in Jaffana along with Jaffna Fort and Library and Museum. Although the Road to Nagadeepa has to be repaired . The City and Roads are clean and the people are very kind

We had to check in during the very early hours of the day as we used public transport to reach Jaffna. Hotel Manager Wijekumara was very responsive and attentive from the moment we booked the hotel until we checked out. He made sure that everything(room/access and other amenities) was nicely arranged for us. We were quite surprised and very well impressed to see such wonderful service from the Manager and staff. Thank you so much Wije and hopefully, will be visiting in the future.

Their ho e is situated in a very quiet area and you wake to the sound of a variety of birds. A very enjoyable and comfortable stay and I will definitely stay there again when I next return to Jaffna

And the family was soooo kind. They made delicious Jaffna food for us, and even showed us how they prepare the authentic dish Odiyal Kool over a woodfire. Each of us also got free king coconuts to drink not once but twice during our stay. What a bliss. Jaffna is a beautiful place and people should visit but do not stay here. Very poor standard!

The guy is helpful, welcoming, generous, friendly and is keen on sharing about the local life. Wish I could put 20/10 The breakfast options were great and affordable The house is very big with spacious outdoor areas.
