Penang is my late dad’s hometown, so i’ve been visiting and staying in the Island many times since I was a child. I’d say that its capital George Town has it all; beaches, historical sites, shopping places, cultural centres, you name it and they got it.
One of the must-visit place in Malaysia whenever you’re in the country; please take note that it’s not that close to Kuala Lumpur/KL. If you’re driving from KL, it’ll take around 4-5 hours drive (and longer traveling hours train). Alternatively, you may take a 45 minutes flight via KLIA.
Oh, and skip the fancy clothing when you’re in Penang. It’s hot for the most part of the year. There’s no need to suffer in the name of fashion.

George Town is the perfect destination for those looking for a weekend getaway from the bustling concrete forest that is Kuala Lumpur. It is also perfect for those who hold a deep and special appreciation for cities that preserves their rich history and heritage. As you walk around the city, you can find yourself surrounded by many amazing street art and cute heritage sites, such as temples and other old Chinese architecture. And don't forget about the plethora of amazing and affordable street foods you can come across during your walk. Definitely don't end your day early and make the most of your evening as there are many night markets happening daily.

During our recent stay, Alan went above and beyond to ensure that our requests were handled efficiently and that we felt heard and valued as guests. His professionalism and dedication to his role did not go unnoticed, and it significantly contributed to the positive experience we had during our stay.
Exploring the local culinary scene, including Teksen Restaurant, Plus Eatery Cafe, Uncle Lim’s Kacang Tumbuk, and many others, was a true highlight of our trip. Having such a diverse selection of dining options nearby added immense value to our stay.
Thank you for providing us with a comfortable and convenient accommodation experience. We look forward to visiting again and indulging in more of the delicious offerings near your hotel.

UNESCO site, old buildings well kept, very clean streets all around. Friendly neighborhood, most business operators are very welcoming too. CAT Free shuttle bus service is excellent. We had great time visiting Kek Lok Si, The Habitat, Penang Hill, Peranakan Museum Penang, Blue Mansion, War Museum.
"The Top" at Komtar is very disappointed visit though, staff are not welcoming, very bad attitude. facility around is poor too, access to entrance is somehow confusing. Overpriced & not worth the visit.
The city council should pay serious attention in maintaining walkway of shoplots as we noticed many of the shop operator blocked their front walkway by using huge pots & plants, chairs, signboard, motorcycles and so on, forcing pedestrians to walk on the road side & fight with oncoming traffic, which already packed with double parked cars, potentially causing unwanted accident, this to me is totally unacceptable in such a beautiful city.
Tourism board/City council should erect more signboard for main tourist attractions too, it definitely helps tourists to walk around.

Charming city with a long history.
Charming city with a long history. The local food is amazing! Try the hawker stalls, local nyonya food/ restaurants. But if you want something fancier like modern western food, there are many new restaurants opened by the younger generation. Lots of coffee cafes operated by young people and they are great! It is easy to get around Penang in a Grab, and cheap too. Spend 1/2 day in Penang Hill - take the train up. Its only 4.5 min over a 2 km steep climb. The visit is worth it.
I’m so glad we had an opportunity to stay 4 nights at the Town House (2 bed) and get a taste of George Town’s heritage. The house is really well placed to explore. The property was equipped to make our stay comfortable and beautifully restored. The house was much more spacious than we expected and less noisy than you’d think for being in town. The staff were accommodating, breakfast at the main hotel, the Blue Mansion, hit the spot too. All in all, great experience.
Big space with balcony , love the view of jetty and the location access to everywhere in George Town is really great!
We are able to add one extra bed and baby cot in the room
Staffs are helpful to provide us with 2 fans when we felt the room was a little warm. And whatsapp text was send to check whether we are on our way to hotel
Environmental friendly hotel where no plastic bottles of water are provided.
Thankful for the complimentary Snacks and Bars !
Good vibe, the room, downstairs and the outside had lots of personality.
Nice balcony, nice idea to put out books that guests can borrow. There were options for different languages.
The staff was amazing and very helpful.
We were woken up by the mosque, but we booked the hotel knowing this and were curious to experiencing that bit of culture. Definitely something special to experience!
When in George Town, I would definitely book this hotel again.
Staff was really friendly and helpful with a lot of advice for food and things to do. We stayed in the new room - king suite with balcony.
Air cond, shower pressure, and hot temperature are stable. The room was clean.
The hotel is located at a walkable distance of many tourist spots 15-20. Or a few minutes with Grab.
The room is exact as the photos on booking.
And there is a common area with free coffee and tea.
Everything. It was great. Very spacious, very comfortable. A lot of amenities at the property. AMAZING breakfast buffet and really good food options at the whole hotel. A bit on the more expensive side of George Town but worth it.
The free canapés and cocktails from 6-7pm was also great. All in all this was an amazing hotel, great staff and amazing venue.
This boutique hotel was refurbished from an existing shophouse located within Georgetown UNESCO Heritage site.
The place was beautifully decorated and has a homely feel.
The innkeeper (Jane & Ryan) are very friendly and always taking care of our needs.
It is within a short walking distance to all the tourist attractions within the UNESCO Heritage site.
Savv Hotel is perfectly located in the heart of George Town. We easily could have spent three or four days exploring all that George Town and Penang have to offer. The room was cool and comfortable at night, had a strong wifi connection, and the staff were clear in communicating check-in and check-out procedures. We'd happily stay here again!
This was a quaint, well decorated boutique hotel in Georgetown. My husband and I absolutely loved our stay there. The room and property were gorgeous and in a great location. It is close to shops, restauraunts, and within walking distance to main attractions. The price is very reasonable compared to other heritage hotels in the area.
Everything was perfect!
Room clean and tidied up every time we went out.
Perfect position. The hotel is in little India area, in the center of george town.
Staff Is amazing. Always kind, available to support anytime and share all information.
We spent here our honey moon and they contributed to make it perfect! Thank you!
Perfect vacation when we stay at this hotel, it's located at the center of George Town. spacious clean comfort room. Staffs are helpful and very friendly, Thanks to Ms. Sharmini.

I would recommend Noordin Mews to absolutely anyone who visits George Town. The hotel is beautiful, with an incredible attention to detail and quality, and the staff is all just so friendly and helpful. Thank you Noordin Mews team for such a wonderful stay!
Location of the hotel was great, thus it was easy to get to many places from the hotel. Really love the boutique and zen vibes of the hotel - it is very minimalistic and it looks very well kept. The hotel also had water dispensers to refill water.
room: ok
-sound proof, didn't hear anything outside the room
-1st time stay in hotel room with ceiling fan
-quiet air conditioning
-water pressure is good
location: good
-near to George town ,walking time around 15mins to old town
The hotel is in a good location to move around George Town. It’s an old building with a soul. We liked the vibe of the room and the whole decor. Staff was very friendly. There were not many breakfast options but the food was very good.
A boutique hotel but took care of all basic needs for a guest. Check in was seamless. Toiletries were provided. Rooms were clean. Most impt for us the toilet wet and dry areas were well separated :)
