I have never seen so many rude, contemptuous residents in most of the center city. They make Parisians look like a welcoming committee. They make a habit of fleecing tourists, both our hostel front desk and a food kiosk blatantly charged us more than they were supposed to and we witnessed atrocious behavior toward other tourists. Maybe 5% of the people we interacted with were friendly.
Service was comically bad in the restaurants we visited. They have plenty of tourists, but haven't learned much in the way of hospitality yet. Grocery stores are expensive with poor selections.
Arriving into Managua was not at all bad. And we are finding San Juan del Sur a joy, although this too is fairly pricey bc of all the American and Canadian tourists. Restaurant food was much higher quality and better value, service was great and everyone has been so very friendly.
So, really, all of our bad experiences were in Granada. I have no intention of returning and don't plan to recommend it to anyone. I hope to have a chance to see more of Managua before I leave.

Granada is a bustling city with nice people.
Granada is a bustling city with nice people. We like the fact that we were close to stores, markers, banks, parks etc..
What we did not like, is that there are no street signs, and since we were driving, we got lost a few times. Also, the beach was picturesque but unfortunately it was littered with garbage everywhere. It was very disappointing.

The churches and the restaurants.
The churches and the restaurants. There was a variety of restaurants and very reasonable prices. It was easy and inexpensive to get a cab home after dinner if we did not want to walk back to the hotel.
The friendliness and hospitality of the people was amazing.

It is an old city with a lot of old historic buildings. The infrastructure definitely needs upgrading. I have heard many good things about the beach area but I did not go to the beach. There are some sketchy areas at night time. So we did not leave on foot at night. if anyone had a reason to go to Granada I would definitely recommend the Hotel Jardin De Granada.

Its a great base to explore different venues for day trips and nice to walk around.
It was perfectly safe and outside of a few young children soliciting for $$$ it was a good experience.
Locals were absolutely helpful and the food was good. Excellent selection of dining venues.

Great town, unique colonial history and architecture.
Great town, unique colonial history and architecture. Granada is on the huge lake and many interesting volcanic islands that you can visit. A great city for biking, black market and "ramba" walking/dining area behind the beautiful Cathedral. Warning: city square park is beautiful but very crowded esp w aggressive and nasty taxi drivers. Many language schools and American backpackers. Realtively cheap restaurants.
The most adorable hotel in Grenada!
Terry and the staff are so pleasant and wonderful you feel like you are at home and not a tourist.
They building itself is 2 old homes and it feels like you are strolling back in time as you wander the 2 little courtyards and discover the various balconies.
The rooms are unique and have AC!
Free breakfast is amazing quality and so fresh. The on-site restaurant has a quality menu as well.
The little pool is super refreshing and well stocked with towels.
We will for sure stay again!
Gabby and Toby greeted us warmly to their beautiful hotel and we’re always available to answer questions, offer advice on things to do and see, and arrange transportation.
The hotel is located on a quiet street, but within blocks of most of the best restaurants in Granada, and the main plaza.
Breakfast was made to order, starting with tropical fruit , followed by four entre choices, and Nicaraguan coffee. The inner courtyard is filled with plants.
True to its name the hotel is indeed an oasis in the city, the vivid garden in a pleasure not only for the eye but also create a cooler climate, really refreshing and relaxing. Being few steps away from the street, the hotel in very quite, however a good base to discover Granada city, all nice locations can be reached within 10 minutes by foot. Need to mention the lovely breakfast and the very helpful and friendly staff as well.
This was the perfect way to end our trip through Central America. It’s a really charming boutique hotel with a lovely courtyard that gives the feeling of staying in your private villa / little oasis in the middle of Granada, for a very reasonable price. The superior King room was superb, with a lovely pool right in front of the room. The AC worked well and it was quiet, so we slept well. And all the staff were wonderful.
The hotel is absolutely beautiful. I loved the colonial style and the ambiance. The junior suite was spacious and comfortable. The location is perfect. The breakfast waiter gave an excellent service, very different from our waiter the evening before.
The breakfast waiter was very attentive and is a credit to the hotel. We really had a fabulous stay here and we will return.
Exceptionally stylish, beautifully restored and maintained colonial hotel.
Hotel owner and manager, Yves, is the perfect host. Offered helpful advice on the city and region, and arranged specific trips that we wanted to do.
Breakfasts delightful and substantial.
Pool you can properly swim in.
A perfect stay - we have travelled a lot, and don’t say this easily.
Corrine and Yves were the most welcoming of hosts. The property is magnificent. The ambience, the plants, the cleanliness, and the furnishing all confirm that everything is always in the details. If coming to Granada, I recommend Bubu to anyone looking for first class accommodations with a European flair. One of the greatest hotels I have ever stayed at.
The location is central and close to amazing restaurant and bars. Maria and Gerald were more than helpful and accommodating, not to mention incredibly warm. The breakfast is delicious, and the entire hotel is clean and well maintained. The rooftop is a bonus - we had it all to ourselves one day that had an amazing view of Granada overlooking the city.
Great hotel, friendly staff, delicious breakfast included, clean comfortable rooms that have A/C, warm showers and cable. There is also a nice size pool and a bar. The location is very convenient...close to the central park and many restaurants. This place is a great value and I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others!
Hotel is very well located, not in the very center but near parque central by foot.
Very clean hotel, food is amazing, especially breakfast and cocktails. Nice and pretty cold swiming pool, useful for Granada heat.
Staff very available and with good taxi partner to get you to volcan masaya.
Marcia and Micheal, the owners, a Swiss-Guatemalan couple, are more than nice, extremely helpful and caring, as well as their personnel. The hotel is modern with a hot shower and high water pressure, which is really not standard in Nicaragua. It is a little oasis in the middle of Granada.
Even though this hotel is in the heart of Granada very near the Square and we were there during big parties in parades somehow it remained quiet. And our room was next to the pool and close to the kitchen area and yet it wasn’t loud, people are very respectful it is not a party spot
Nice little colonial style hotel close to the centre of town. We had a nice room on the ground floor next to the pool. Staff were very attentive and breakfast was lovely. Would happily stay again.
Beautiful colonial hotel ten minute walk from the centre of Granada, excellent clean and large rooms and the staff could not have been more helpful, they were just the best
The overall colonial style of the hotel is really nice and pretty, the service and the people working there was super nice and helpfull - for them 10/10!
