Hi! My name is Casper, 46 years old, living/ enjoying on my houseboat for 9 years now. The last couple of years I've spent a lot of time and effort reconstructing the boat and now I'm ready to host guests from all over the world, to experience the "Amsterdam houseboat lifestyle".
The boat is an old cargo boat from 1907 that is renewed a few years ago into modern style. The old wooden roof parts of the early days are saved in the reconstruction. Once you enter the ship, you will see that many nautical details, that give the space a very cool and rustic ambiance, are still visible. Also the portholes add to the 'ship experience' that we offer. In the apartment you have two bedrooms, each with a comfortable double bed and an en suite bathroom with a shower and sink. The bedrooms are adjacent to the living room. There is a separate toilet next to the living room. Although I live on the same boat, you will hardly notice I'm there. The place is very well insulated and you have all the privacy you want. In the front of the ship you will find a nice terrace where you can sit and enjoy the scenery of our harbor. There are many restaurants that are found within a few minutes walking. Of course I will share my personal favorites with you. Furthermore there are many bars just around the corner.
The boat is located in the oosterdok, that used to be the old harbour of Amsterdam before central station an the railways were build around the 1880's. The oosterdok island is a high rise building site now and our little boat village is actually situated in between the oldest part of Amsterdam and the modern Island with expensive hotels and clubs. All the other parts of town are very easy to reach with public transport, and of course by bike. There is a bike rental just around the corner. Note that the boat is fully equipped with central heating, so you are assured to be comfortably warm all year round. Your apartment has a private entrance and you don't need to share anything with anyone.
