Central location. Good choice of restaurants & bars within a short walk away. Nicely decorated room, clean, comfortable bed. It worked well for us as we travelled with friends so booked both rooms in Michel’s house which are adjacent to each other. Michel was helpful & communication was excellent. Offered an option to leave our bags as we had a later flight.

This special and picturesque neighbourhood known to locals as ‘The Nine Streets’ (or De Negen Straatjes), is full to bursting with vintage and designer shopping, art galleries, quirky concept stores and many bars and restaurants housed in picturesque, stepped-gabled buildings, some of which date to the 17th and 18th centuries. As the name suggests, the 9-street area is known for the nine streets that connects the canals of Amsterdam. Since the neighbourhood is much more calm and quiet than other parts of Amsterdam, a stroll through the 9 Streets is recommended; a great place for window-shopping, enjoying the ambience and marvelling at the architecture. Located in the very heart of Amsterdam’s beautiful canal district, just two minutes’ walk from Dam Square, the Nine Streets make up one of the city’s most unique and delightful shopping areas. These nine parallel streets link each of the four great canals that loop the oldest part of the city.
