It would be good if breakfast was included given the high rates charged for the rooms per night. I was disappointed breakfast wasn't included with the accommodation. I mostly likely to book in a hotel that includes accommodation with breakfast next time I am in POM

Despite the various overhyped negativity painted by the media daily, the city is actually safe, friendly and can be enjoyable.
Accommodation-wise, for high budget travelers, Stanley Hotel, Airways, and Hilton are recommended. Loloata Island resort is also a luxurious choice. Medium ranged budget travelers can opt for Ela Beach Hotel, Gateway Hotel & Apartments, Holiday Inn apartments or one or the premier rooms.
Airways, Hilton and Stanley hotels have delicious menus of local and international dishes served on breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets daily. As well as that, the Vision City mega mall, Rangeview mall, or Waterfront or Foodworld shops have variety of fresh and processed food choices available for those that prefer cooking their own meals. The Boroko or Gordans main markets are your choice for fresh local produce.
Local taxis are generally preferred cheap mode of transport from point, otherwise it is recommended to get a hire car and driver (if you are not familiar with the city roads). A general Google search can list down various hire car services. Depending on type of vehicle, daily rates average around AUD$150/day for a decent car.
Again, despite the continuous bad portrayal of the city and its residents, it is in fact much more safer than assumed. The locals tend to not bother tourists/visitors as much, however there are a few bad apples here and there (as you would expect from a rapidly growing city rife with uncontrolled urban drift and population growth), hence to be on the safe side, avoid walking on foot around specific suburbs (Erima, Gordons, Morata) at night.

Lovely place public transport is not recommended for people who are COVID-19 conscious, very over crowded and most people do not observe the niupla pasin. Advise to get your own hire vehicle or clean taxi's

Stanley Hotel I think the best located and awesome hotel, however double check if they are prepared to take you to the airport, specifically the APEC terminal at Jacksons International, at a super expensive rate and booking a suite one would expect the Hotel to bring you to your port of departure by plane.
we stay there often and never had this problem, this time they refused, and the duty manager was of zero help and told us to arrange our own transport. for this reason I might never book there again and let my connections at Tabubil know as we all have to use the APEC terminal.

The general genuine friendliness of the Papua New Guinea people Is great. Like all cities in the world it has its criminal element which tends to spoil PNG on the whole. The different cultures of the people is fascinating.

Port Moresby is a nice tropical city in the pacific.
Port Moresby is a nice tropical city in the pacific. It boast the beautiful ela beach (white sandy beaches can also be found in the nearby islands of manubada and fisherman islands). It is the best tropical sunlight and good road system. I enjoyed shopping at the vision city mall. it has some of the best asian restaurants. Its so easy to get around Port Moresby with the good road system.
They have done a great job making the
place nice with loads of tropical plants.
Place was very clean. The staff were
excellent, helpful, courteous. Included
breakfast was good. The shuttle service
to and from the airport was much
appreciated as was the shuttle to the
local shopping centres. Additional
shuttles even if there was a charge to
other areas in and around Port Moresby
would be good.
Breakfast was great--excellent coffee, fruit, and I could swop PNG veg for a sausage, which I did everyday. My room was comfortable, and it was nice to have a fridge, kettle, and microwave. The staff were helpful and friendly, and I loved how many plants filled the property, making it an urban garden and adding privacy and noise blocking.
The hotel facilities blossomed 🌼🌸 to life and active at the end of COVID-19 pandemic. Hotel facilities and hospitality was very lovely 🌹. This hotel is clean, convenient for business and leisure. Affordable and wholesome for family stays. The pool is restricted to guests and members only that's a good thing to happen.
The staff were easy to approach and very helpful. I liked and appreciated that they prioritized getting my room sorted out and cleaned and ready for us. The idea of having a hotel that is secluded from the rest of the city, while being in the city is amazing. I particularly enjoyed the Indian food.
I went there to run the Port Moresby marathon, so the location was perfectly located near the start line. I had a wonderful view of the seaside and it was in a great neighborhood for walking around. Excellent breakfast as well. The staff helped me out with transport to the airport.
1. Location of hotel.
2. The two young attendants at the front desk who checked me into the hotel. Emily was one of them and the main person here (but couldn't get the name of the young man, sorry). Very professional and pleasant. Left a very good impression.
1. Room was excellent with multi channel TV. Unfortunately 60% of the channels were scramble. Needed looking into
2. Airport transfer was delayed.
3. Food was good. I enjoyed the dinner
4. Overall I'd recommend Gateway Hotel to any visitors to Port Moresby
The hotel had amazing view facing the seafront promenade with balcony that you can open the door for some fresh air. The staff were also very efficient and helpful during my stay there. The breakfast spread was excellent.
The most memorable thing for me were The cafe restaurant staff, they were very friendly and helpful. Food was better than most hotels I've stayed in.
The room had the best pillows I have used, very comfortable.
The cleanliness and the presentation of the hotel and facilities were 5 star and executive lounge great seating and view for entertaining customers. Monsoon restaurant was the highlight for food and atmosphere
Friendly staff who are very hospitable.
The reliability of airport pickup - you don't have to wait long.
Also it's cheap but but service and rooms provided are good value for solo travellers.
The setting and environment is so friendly and relaxing.. Definitely a home away from home, for those who are in Port Moresby for business and simply get away to relax and unwind.
I stay here every time I come to Papua New Guinea and always find the staff wonderfully helpful, the food delicious and above all the peece of the place wonderful for a traveler.
