The host was very nice and communication was great - despite us making a mistake and showing up a day early she accommodated us and got the apartment ready very quickly. The studio was stylish, comfortable and well equipped. And the location was absolutely amazing!

The Studio apartment is open to the wild nature that surrounds it and welcomes the local fauna and flora to be part of the space through the large windows. An old adobe (taipa) house was restored using local architectural culture and traditional constructive knowledge. The roof was rebuilt with an intrinsic old traditional work of wood and canes, and the original old roof tiles with their natural tinted shades were re-used. We use the most ecological, sustainable and high-quality Portuguese materials and fixtures as possible, taking in consideration the preservation of the Natural Park. Solar panels for heating water and a biological septic fossette were placed. The architecture language is minimal and refined. There are a fully equipped kitchenette and a small extendable dining table. The bed has a high-quality mattress and 100% cotton white bedlinens. The bathroom is equipped with modern fixtures and a walk-in shower all set with Portuguese white tiles. For the decoration, design was mixed with local handcrafted techniques - mima26, de raiz, projecto Tasa, associations of artisans of Monchique and Loulé - to develop some wooden, ceramic, palm and cane pieces.
I am an architect and designer that have studied and lived in several different countries. Morover, I am a researcher, a maker and craft lover too. I like to keep myself fit by doing surf, kite surf, yoga or dance. Being a passionate traveler myself, I know what is like to visit new cities and places and stay at BnBs. My property is in Portugal's least developed part of the western Algarve, with its nationally protected nature reserves, pristine beaches, wild coastlines and jagged cliffs. It is home to Europe’s southwestern most point, Cabo de São Vicente (Cape St Vincent). From fresh seafood caught daily by local fishermen and the best beaches in Portugal to relaxing spas, coastal activities, and access to nature preserves, the western coast of the Algarve is the perfect wild retreat for those looking to escape from a busy city life.
One of Portugal’s protected natural parks, the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina, wraps around the Algarve's cliffy coastline along the Atlantic Ocean and into the Alentejo, covering a stretch of over 120km of lush greenery and wild fauna tucked amidst steep coastal landscapes. The coast, characterized by rugged rocks, boulders, sea stacks, sand stratified cliff faces caused by centuries of erosion, is perfect for long walks. Other inhabitants include fishing eagles and white storks. It is ideal for practicing such activities as surf, biking, bird watching, climbing, hiking and walking through the network of fully marked walking and trekking routes in this part of the coastline. Driving is the best way to get around and sightseeing the Vicentine Coast, especially if you are visiting it for the first time. You are minutes away from many pristine beaches, a breathtaking beautiful coastline, and cultural points of interest such as the historical centers, castles, fortress, Roman ruins and monuments, some Megalithic of Aljezur, Lagos and Sagres. Monchique is also a great place to visit with its spectacular views from the top of the ‘Serra de Monchique’.
