Sturovo is directly across the Danube from touristy Esztergom in Hungary and it is very plain in comparison. Being in Slovakia it is a cheaper place to stay or to shop. The centre of the town is very quiet in the evenings with just some dimly lit bars and few places serving food. This part of Slovakia is very run down with many buildings abandoned and in advanced decay. The lanes around the town are despoiled by rampant fly tipping on an industeial scale.

Sturovo is a good value (€) base from which to explore...
Sturovo is a good value (€) base from which to explore Esztergom. We ended up eating and drinking in Sturovo: drinks on the river at Komp Caffee for the views, good beer at Green Pub, dinner at Casablanca or El Camino. Nice pedestrianised area with lots of other choices! Plus the Vadas thermal swimming pools!

Parking is within its private yard, so very safe. The host will email/text you with code to retrieve the room key from key safe (yes, in English). It's quite easy. The room has stove and refrigerator. It is both clean and comfortable. It is quiet and large. The backyard is lovely. Grocery store and other shopping are 300 meters away. River bank is 1 KM away to see Esztergom from across the river.

There was a kind of separated space for the kitchenette and an eating/working table, which was great. Several windows and a balcony door provided for great fresh air at night, and it was quiet at night. Large bathroom. Staff were friendly, and Wifi was very good. The hotel is well located close to the Danube and the lower end of the main walking boulevard. Good value for money.

Rooms to the frontside provide a wonderful overview of the walkway, both during daytime and the evening. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. In mine there was also a mini-kitchen. In the yard there is a good playground with a trampoline, table tennis, and a swing, which made our son very happy. We also used the barbecue area and the fireplace in the room. Thank you for a pleasant and comfortable stay in Shturovo.
