We were at this hotel when the earthquake hit Hualien. We were very impressed with the staff and the professional way they handled the whole situation. The rooms were good sized and comfortable. We were happy to find out that they had a supper offer from 8:00-10:00pm and the added bonus of having washing machines and dryers without extra charge made the name of the hotel so fitting. We made use of the all day cafe where we could sit and discuss what we were going to do because the roads to the North were closed. We decided to stay one more night and enjoy the excellent hospitality.

I want to say thank you to Robert and Siling for their kindness they showed us at the reception when we checked into the hotel. They gave us some information on getting to Taroko Gorge.
Furthermore, we received an upgrade to a larger room and it was very spacious. I really admire their choice in being an eco-friendly facility, trying to reduce waste and helping the environment. I want to see this in action.

Everything was great and well-managed, the receptionist, cafe-like lobby where guests are free to enjoy snacks and drinks, rooms are clean and new to how well the person-in-charge and staff handles hotel guests during Hualien earthquake. Strong earthquake strike Hualien on 3rd April 2024 before we checked-out. The person-in-charge rushed to the hotel to calm and assist guests who were mainly foreigners and terrified. They shown how kindhearted Taiwanese take care of their guests like own family and friends. Felt sorry for the state of messy rooms and lobby due to earthquake. But Hualien people are tough! If I come back, will stay here again!

This hotel absolutely exceeded our expectations. Great location close to train station and across the street from amazing Thai restaurant... go there .. Lemongrass Kitchen.. Great food... speak English. The restaurant was recommend by hotel staff and the staff also found a good secure place to store our bicycles. Had some seets in the room when we got there, coffee, tea plus amazing bathroom with shower and jacuzzi tub. Nice linen. Big room. Great breakfast with friendly breakfast staff! Also we're there during a few 6.1 earthquakes and the building felt rock solid!

Different vibe than Taipei - seems really nice chill place but my stay in Hualien was too short to give more details. Found a nice place for breakfast, night market, a promenade, good connection with Taroko Park, great connection thanks to train station with various other locations in Taiwan

The Taroko Gorge was quite a site to behold.
The Taroko Gorge was quite a site to behold. We had a private TourGuide, Allen, who was full of great historical knowledge not only of Taiwan, but of the Taroko people. We also took the opportunity to go river rafting and were able to do a shrimp, catching and nighttime barbecue, which was delicious!

Hualien is easily accessible by train from small or major cities, either with the express or local trains. It is also a great starting point to discover the central east cost, with wonders like Taroko gorge and Walami trail.
In the city, the Dongdamen night market is worth spending a few evenings.

The city itself is big and need time to explore.
The city itself is big and need time to explore. The coastal park facing the Pacific Ocean is highly recommended to visit. Also the Taroko Gorge tour is a must together with the many other sightseeing tours.
The hotel staff are exceptionally helpful and kind. English was somewhat limited, but even still they were amazing and very easy to talk to and I can’t speak any Mandarin or Taiwanese so definitely can’t complain about that!
I had to leave my suitcase with them after checking out, which was so early no one was at the desk. I left it behind the desk with a note and they kept it safe and sound until my arrival - not something I’d recommend in London (!!) but it was more than safe in Hualien at the hotel.
The kids themed family room was cute! The girls loved the toys and it was a great way to help them to relax. If we had stayed longer I’m sure we would have also taken advantage of the library. Breakfast was simple with a decent selection of Taiwanese food, fruit, toast and cereal. We had lunch at a wonton soup place just next door. The night market is a few minutes walk away. You can walk to the seaside as well but there isn’t much of a sidewalk.
Nice rooms right in downtown Hualien. While the breakfast was vegetarian and we aren't vegetarians, it was great with lots of delicious food. Breakfast was also served nice and early before our early tour departures. Several good restaurants and the fun Dongdamen night market are within a 15 minute walk.
We used the convenient hotel shuttle to pick us up at the Hualien train station as it would have been too far to walk with luggage.
Stay a few times there over the years, hotel was near train station, quite neighborhood (except for the occasional fighter aircraft from the airfield nearby flying pass). Place was very clean, room was big, staff was polite (that is, when they are around), price was... errh... (I hesitated) "quite reasonable". I gave them higher scores before in my previous stays, but not this time.
It was the best hotel I stayed in Taiwan! Very nice, helpful and professional staff, all necessary facilities, very good room with nice view, very nice rooftop terrace, I could do my laundry by myself, tasty breakfast with a variety of options. :) Great location, close to main cycle routes. And bicycle was well maintained, no problems during using it :)
Once you know your way around, accommodation is very near the train station and bus station. Use the West exit ( looks older) and hotel is 80m to the right of the 7-11.
Water dispenser available to fill our bottles. Bathroom was renovated and clean.
Staff helped us call a tour operator as we did not have a Taiwan number.
Great location in Hualien. Close to waterfront and night market. We used it as a base to explore Taroko. We were able to walk (30-60 minutes) to many of the sights in Hualien City. Room was big and comfortable. Breakfast had Asian and Western options and coffeee was good. Arranged a taxi for us for our morning departure.
This is a great place to stay in a few days visiting Hualien city. Even it's not close to the bus/train station but the night market is the next to. The neighbourhood foods are also great. The price affordable in the holiday, with the double-bed room, free drinking water, coffee, noodles, post cards, etc. there.
Very pleased with the helpful and courteous staff. Also the room was very clean as well as the other facilities. There was also a Starbucks in the lobby which was a nice way to start the morning. I've stayed in many places in Taiwan and this place was definitely the best in value and service.
The hotel is in a cool building with lots of interesting features. The room was nicely decorated, comfortable and the shower in the bathroom was great. The staff were very helpful and gave me lots of tips to help me get around the local area. Nice little touches like free tea!
William is an amazing host, and has created a really welcoming and fun space for travelers. Even though Taiwan has a lot of hostels, I’ve found it’s rare to find one that has a nice social atmosphere. I definitely recommend staying here if you’re coming through Hualien.
The bed was amazing - so comfortable! The best bed we slept in over three weeks travelling in Taiwan. Room was big, light and spacious. Bennet was lovely and friendly. Nice extra touches, like free tea and coffee. We stayed twice and really liked the hostel.
An excellent place to be spending some time in Hualien. The staff speaks proper English and it's not something for granted in Taiwan. The room I booked was big, clean and elegant and the position was ideal for exploring around. Price was impeccable.
Everything really. But especially the 2 owners who were more than helpful and nice. Not only they helped us in many ways, they were also simply good company. People in Taiwan are nice and they are the perfect example of the best of that.
This was very plain homestay. It was safe, clean and the bed was comfortable. The area is a bit out=of=the=way but seems quite safe as is all of Taiwan. Other than our initial arrival, there was no staff to be seen.
Very good hotel, fulfilled our request for bb need, very nice room and can have some seaview in our room.
Good breakfast in nice dining place.
Near to night market which only need to walk for few minute.
Breakfast buffet was generous in selections and of good quality. Hotel is within short walking distance to the popular night market, which has abundant dining/snacking options.
it is clean, fabulous toiletries provided. love that they provide dyson hair dryer and Aesop hand wash. the most aesthetic place we have stayed in Taiwan so far.
