The rooms were cleaned well, the poster bed was made up in the evenings. The hotel is located on the far end of Kendwa beach, so can provide quiet atmosphere

The hotel is at the best beach location. Long walk on the beach in front of many other hotels is possible unlike at other parts of Zanzibar. Many cute little local shops are near just a minute away. All kinds of fantastic water activities and boat tours are right in front of the hotel. The beach is clean and can swim any time, unlike in other areas where you have to wait for high tide not to hurt yourself on the corals. The hotel pool is also very pleasant.
Featuring a garden and views of sea, La Fontana Restaurant & Bungalows is a recently renovated guest house located in Kendwa, 300 metres from Kendwa Beach.

In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location.
In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location. However, there were some issues to address:
The breakfast had a good variety of food, but unfortunately, warm items were cold. When I requested my sausages to be reheated, they were returned cold, accompanied by a surprised question about wanting them hot. It would be better if the staff anticipated the preference for warm breakfast items.
The bed was so uncomfortable, causing back pain every morning. I tried all sides of mattress, and anyways there was a pit regardless of the position. This might be specific to only my bed, but it needs attention.
The restaurant offers good food at reasonable prices, and the waiters speaks good English and are polite ( except trainees)
Cleanless! Room was clean and tide, but there were several diferent bugs around, but its Africa, you just need to ask to spray your room for bugs (i asked but they never did) and you need to ask for wc paper and ask for clean towels. Water pression in the shower and hot water was very good.
Unfortunately AC didnt wor for last 2 nights. I guess a gas just finished, but noone came to check on it, just excuses about low voltage. Well, when voltage was low even fridge was not working, bet when voltage restored AC and fridge worked excellent. Water got frozen in the fridge in 1h - so thats not a low voltage at all.
Despite the issues, I tought I would consider to come back, but after last 2 nights struggles, I doubt about it.
Particularly I would suggest a room with a sea view and small private pool, keeping in mind that perfection may not exist in every aspect, especially in a place like Zanzibar.

The internet is going to tell you Kendwa has the most beautiful beach in Zanzibar....it has not....not at all....yes, the beach is nice and wide and white.....but there is no vegetation at all, it's full of sunbeds and umbrellas from the resorts/hotels....way to many traders and not much to offer than going up and down, only to then retreat to your hotel or some place with shade....if you come here for drinks or a party, fine, but don't waste all of your vacation here, when there are many other cheaper and more beautiful places on the island...

Kendwa beach in its self is one of the best I have been too...
Kendwa beach in its self is one of the best I have been too and I have been a regular beach traveller worldwide for the last 40 years. The only advice I would suggest would be to vet the hotel thoroughly as sunseabar was not upto standard it advertised. Go out into local restaurants we tried 4 different ones all were superb so far superior to the hotel

Clean, small and quiet guest house right on the beach!
Clean, small and quiet guest house right on the beach! They welcome you with a delicious fresh tropical juice! It is nice to see local people and fishermen living just next door. In the other hand thou, the front sea is full of boats that make swimming a bit complicated. The staff is very kind. Rooms are sober but clean and furnitures are nicely wooden. Breakfast is in range(no buffet, no choice) but good. Very much recommended place. I would definitely return there.

Kendwa is the perfect beach holiday.
Kendwa is the perfect beach holiday.
This is the only area bot effected by tides.
The beach is wonderful and offers great places to eat. Kendwa rocks offers a great BBQ with live entertainment on Saturdays.
This is a budget 2/3 star hotel so just keep your expectations real. For the reasonable price you get access to the awesome beach, where low tide is not an issue unlike in other parts of the island, full sea view (choose high floor) and spacious room.
We stayed with a family of four in 2 interconnected rooms with a fridge and kettle. Modern bathroom, hot water and AC. They have their own generator so you still have electricity and water during shut downs.
Great hospitality - thank you Alexey!
The managers and all the staff made a great effort to make us feel confortable and happy, they were very special and even offered us a romantic dinner at the beach. The staff in general are very nice, we can’t wait to be back! Special thanks to Mr. Tuan, Mr. Anthony, Aisha, the chefs and executive chefs, the staff in the kitchen for making an effort on the vegan meals , Salim, Dija, Mohamed, HadiJa!!! THANK YOU Gold Zanzibar hotel!
Everybody were very welcoming and ready to help. Location is great and on the beach. Our room even had ocean view. Rooms were cleaned each day and on the first day we have arrived at 10AM and they let us in even if we had to show up at 2PM. On the last day we had a flight very late in the bight and they let us stay and use the room. I will definetly come back to this place if I decide to visit Zanzibar again, all the best to Palumbo hotel and guys working there! Serbia loves Zanzibar! <3
We booked the private jacuzzi room which was right outside our room. Very clean, comfy beds. We absolutely loved it, we also had sun beds and it was super relaxing. You can tell the owner takes pride in the hotel, paying attention to detail. The staff are helpful and very kind. The hotel is on the beach, and we could access it from our pool. There was an iron in the room too. The breakfast was also nice. We paid extra for lunch and dinner and it was the best food I’ve had in Zanzibar!
This is by far the best resort in Zanzibar, everything was beyond our expectations. The beach and the views are absolutely incredible, very rich breakfast, extremely delicious food, very clean and luxurious villa and everything is TOP!!! The fire on the beach at sunset is brilliant and we felt very safe, the staff is really doing their best. Your only regret will be when you leave.
PS: we really loved yoga with Claudia
Generally its a really good place. We had wonderful stay there. It is just right on the beach. A lot of sunbeds. Really nice breakfasts. Friendly Staff. This part of the beach is the best one on the west Coast. Water is amazing.
Zanzibar is expensive but if you decide to go there, choose Kendwa rocks. I checked few other places and cost wise it was best option in Zanzibar (I took the cheapest room)
The staff was so helpful, we arrived at midnight and they were waiting for us to greet us and show us the amenities offered by the hotel. The management went above and beyond to make sure we spent a lovely vacation. The rooms were clean, the food was top notch, and the view was AMAZING!! You cannot beat the location of Lazy Beach hotel, especially the breathtaking views from the rooftop restaurant.
Great place in the heart of kendwa!! All you need is in a very near location to varadero and paulino is always available for any question. Fast speed internet, good food with good prices, transfers and tours available for better prices than rest of island, super clean accommodation and friendly staff you will find there. Great place!!
The personals was very kind and helpful. They are always here when you need them. We feel like at home. You have the most beautiful beach of zanzibar at 250 meters.
The breakfast was very good and fresh, you have a lot of choices.
Thank you Amina for your service (she’s at the front desk), you are amazing.
Very friendly, helpful and amazing staff with an interest in clients (in the restaurant Gift, Laurent, Edina, Emmanuel and in the kitchen Michael), perfect location with good access to the sea, clean room, comfortable bed. If we visit Zanzibar again we would stay at the same hotel. Thanks for everything.
this hotel is exceptional!!! every single detail of this hotel is just AMAZING! we fall in love with the friendly stuff, cleanliness, the beach, the activity, and the food (was great) ! i can’t wait to come back to zanzibar just to stay at ZURI !!! So So So much love for everything!
Kendwa beach is very nice and the hotel is located directly at the beach near Kendwa Rocks. Good restaurants are nearby. As there is no swimming area, everybody must swim between the boats, which come close and also directly to the beach. This is quite dangerous.
In general I like the property, it feels like I am child again and enjoying time in the Summer camp. It was close to the best beach in Zanzibar and Renate is really nice woman. Welcoming, friendly, full of positive vibe.
I really enjoy staying at Lazy Beach hotel! The location is perfect, not crowded, best place to relax on your holiday. The hotel has a Sky restaurant which has tasty and cheap food and drinks. We ate there daily. :)
in general all is excellent , the hotel located on the best beach in Zanzibar , service was good and food was delicious , big resort , nice place to relax , lovely breakfast and friendly staff .
Very spacious hotel with a wonderful beach. The rooms are comfortable and the facilities are decent. But this is a 3 star hotel at best so set your expectations accordingly.
Excellent value for money!! Close to the best in Kendwa, including the beach, but very relaxed and calm. Renate is a super kind guest and the breakfast was great.
