The smoky mountains are nice but Gatlinburg is just a money pit. If you want to experience the smoky mountains I would recommend just staying in Pigeon Forge or Sevierville and driving to the mountains. Gatlinburg itself is like a mile long gift shop/ flea market of triple priced goods. 2 two litter mountain dews were over $13

Gatlinburg was a glitzy tourist trap, which we didn’t expect or appreciate. The artist community was a major plus, but the woman at the welcome store was insulting and arrogant, exactly the wrong person for the job.

Gatlinburg is a one strip town of wineries, shineries, and some adventure parks. BUT, it sits on the north end of an absolutely gorgeous national park that is free to enter and explore. Use the free trolley if you can, because all public parking on the strip is $20 one entry and travel on the strip is slow and easily frustrating. The mountain attractions like Ober, Anakeesta, and Skypark are the best parts and definite to-do's. Restaurants are mostly chains and it was difficult to find "local flavor". All the emphasis on booze means you will run into drunken tourists while walking the strip. Stay a week, do some outdoors stuff, explore the Smokies.

We love traveling to Gatlinburg.... the sites, the shopping, the restaurants, the people...all of it!
Crockett's Breakfast Camp has the BEST breakfast I have ever eaten! HUGE portions at great prices, No Way Jose's for Margaritas and snacks,
Hotel was convenient to downtown Gatlinburg. Overall the room was clean. No check in or out needed which was very convenient. Offered a checkoff list for any extra linen, towel or toiletries that may have been needed for the stay which was simple, fill it out, leave it on the door and your supplies were left for you at the door. They have a community kitchen where you can cook your own meals and a community center (room) with a pool table, tv, computer and printer if needed.
This was our first day at Edgewater. We loved it! The hotel itself is showing its age but the interior is well kept and up to date. Our room had a spectacular view of Gatlinburg and we were right in the middle of everything. Also, the breakfast is very good. They had everything you could want for breakfast.
A number of people complain about the parking. However, once you learn the layout of the parking and the hotel. It is not a problem at all.
Room with mountain view during Fall colors was lovely. Breakfast was very good. Made to order omelets among many selections. Staff was friendly, helpful and pleasant in restaurant and hotel. We enjoyed the restaurant for dinner. Prices were reasonable and food was great. Free shuttle into town although we didn't use it. Close to beautiful hiking area and town of Gatlinburg. Beautiful grounds and large indoor pool perfect for families.
Location was the key. Just like you have hotels on Vegas strip, there is a gatlinburg strip and this hotel is right on the strip.
This was my third hotel stay in gatlinburg and this was the best budgeted stay I've had.
This hotel is next to Ober Park. So, if Ober is part of your itinerary, nothing can beat this location.
Complimentary breakfast was not that bad.
The location of the hotel was great. You could walk to everything in Gatlinburg. Arrive and park the car with free parking and not have to drive again unless going into another area. We loved our room with the balcony on the river ( fed geese and ducks everyday ). The size of the room including the bathroom was really nice. Staff was helpful and friendly.
The room wasn't that spacious but the bed was comfortable which is a plus. There's a free trolley stop at the hotel that takes you downtown which was nice. There's a an indoor pool with hot tub and and outdoor small water slide which the kids love. One of the bedside light wasn't working but they came in right away to fix it.
The room was really clean with updated decor. There were no bugs or critters. The night attendant was very friendly and helpful. We loved the close proximity to all of the festivities of downtown Gatlinburg. This hotel is located 1 block from the center of activities. We parked our car and walked everywhere.
The hotel has free access to a trolley system provided by the city that makes transportation to, and from the Gatlinburg strip a breeze. The indoor pool was very clean and nice and the waterslide was fun. The bed was extremely comfortable and the view from the balcony was very nice.
We had an exceptional stay at the Gatlinburg View Lodge!! It was very clean and accompanied our family perfectly. You can walk or catch a trolley to downtown Gatlinburg easily and the views from the hotel are definitely a treat! All around a 10 out of 10! Gatlinburg's hidden gem!
I love that the hotel is right on the river. With each room having it's own balcony. We saw 2 river otters, which was amazing. And a ton of ducks and fish. It's also walking distance to downtown Gatlinburg which helps a lot cause traffic can be hectic.
The front desk staff was great (good personality, very helpful).
The room was a great size, loved the fireplace.
Being right on the river was a bonus.
Did not use the pool, but it looked very clean.
Breakfast bar was good but on the 2 days we went it was the exact same menu.
Hotel was in the perfect location to walk and shop Gatlinburg.
Plan on staying at this hotel on our next visit.
