FAQs about hotels in Honolulu

A True Water Sports Paradise

Standing proudly on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is the Hawaiian capital, meaning "a sheltered bay." Spreading along the white sandy beaches and supported by the strong back of the volcanic mountains, it's a real island paradise.

Honolulu's most popular and famous district, Waikiki, features the stunning Waikiki Beach decorated with hundreds of surfboards, palms and lounge chairs. It’s also a center for the city’s nightlife and shopping, especially along Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues.

As the most popular activities in Honolulu include surfing, snorkeling, canoeing and other water sports, it's no surprise the city has a number of sandy beaches. Try Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with rolling, green hills behind it.

For fans of hiking and exploring, nature awaits at Diamond Head Mountain, a volcanic tuff cone where you can admire the panoramic view of the city. There is also the Bishop Museum with the world’s largest collection of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts and the Waikiki Aquarium with over 490 species of marine fauna and flora.

From hotels near Honolulu International Airport to hotels near the beach, Booking.com has plenty of properties, from cheap to luxury, for your Honolulu trip.

    Not really anything i liked.

Not really anything i liked. Couldn't relax on the beach far too overcrowded. And apart from Pearl Harbor nothing much to do. Being a visitor and not having a car have to rely on local bus. We took the trip to the Dole Plantation it boast the largest Maize in the world it was closed . So a 2 hour on a freezing bus for nothing, as the restaurant was also closed. Its bassicaly a massive gift shop . Paid to go into the garden which we walked around in about 6 mins. Sorry to say Honolulu is not what it is portrayed at all. Run down shops , rubbish everywhere and more homeless sleeping rough than than i have ever seen in my life ... Sorry but its my honest opinion , i will never return nor will i recommend. I felt it was 5 days, out of my month long holiday wasted, i could have spent better else where .

    Crowded, but fun.

Crowded, but fun. Reminded us of a "smaller" version of the LV strip. Uber worked well for getting to Pearl Harbor and we used a private tour company for Hanauma Bay. Fun to walk by and visit the chichi stores, but then happy to visit the north shore and chiller Oahu sites.

Two particularly helpful staff - Brayden and Sarah.. So warm, friendly and genuinely helpful. The hotel is cosy, has a Hawaiian feel about it as opposed to your typical modern hotel chains. It felt very homely. Super comfortable, good use of space in the room, loved the kitchenette with hot plates a microwave and fridge which came in very handy and helped to cut costs. Last but not least, a fantastic location right in the heart of Waikiki - close to everything and everywhere. I will definitely return next time.

One is greeted by an Aloha breeze in the foyer with large glass windows where you can enjoy the rocking chairs and watch the boulevard, beach, and zoo. On the second floor is Lulus Restaurant with an open view of the Waikiki beach. Entering into the Park Shore is a lovely lounge area that plays good Hawaiian music. An excellent Japanese restaurant and the ABC market is in the lounge area, so convenient. The hotel serves AM coffee; however a Starbucks is steps away outside of the ABC market.

This hotel had so much character. For the most part we really liked it and we have stayed in quite a few hotels and resorts in the Waikiki area. We really loved the vintage vibe that felt well thought-out and not cheap. The bar and pool were great and all the rentable chairs/body boards were SO handy and we were glad they were included in the price. Beds were comfortable enough, and room was well decorated. The location is ok in the fact that it is close to the beach.

The condo/hotel accommodated our request for two double beds. The room is of descent size and clean. It even has a kitchenette with a sink, bowls, dishes and utensils and a coffee maker. Our room was on the 3rd level and has a large patio/lanai that we can look at the Waikiki downtown. we loved the location. it’s was just at the end of Waikiki so you had the best of both worlds in terms of green spaces and the buzzing Waikiki at your doorstep. it’s a bit less crowded and the beach a bit more natural what we liked. beach is also super close. we walked to diamonds head which was also nice. it was also the cheapest we can find so that was helpful too.

Located just one block behind Waikiki Beach - so grab your beach gear and within 5 minutes walk you are in the ocean! Nevertheless the streets around the hotel are comparatively quiet. all shops / malls / restaurants are within walking distance. no car needed - if you need a rental car for one day for a tour outside Honolulu - the agent is located in the hotel.

This is my favourite hotel in Waikiki and our third stay in less than three years. The location is perfect, the staff are incredible, the room is a decent size and you can always get a lounger at the pool. I've stayed at The Royal Hawaiian, Moana Surfrider, Alohilani, Mariott, and many other properties and this one trumps them all in my mind for the price.

On my favorite street in Waikiki, Beachwalk. It’s from the ‘60’s just think the original Hawaii 5-O……but very clean, convenient and so very close to the beach and the main drag Kalakaua Ave. and the price is about as cheapest as you can find. So if you don’t mind the not so fancy basics and outstanding location, the Pagoda is your hula hangout!! Aloha!
