The aim was to see as much of the Hluhluwe Game Reserve as possible. Using Booking.com we were able to have two full days in the Reserve. We saw many animals including Cheetah/ elephants /Rhino / Buffalo/ Zebra /warthog and a variety of buck.
The area is well known for its sweet pineapples which are readily available on the roadside.
Suggestion: book secure accomodation and bring mosquito repellent

Amazing park!!!
Amazing park!!! A pity we didn’t get to see any of the cats but it was still an amazing experience. We did a self drive and the roads were manageable with the Toyota urban cruiser so not necessary a 4x4. However we went in the dry season so be careful if you go during the wet season as I think a 4x4 would be needed. Amazon place where I would love to go back. Memorial gate- cash only. Nyalazi gate - cash or card. R5 for the maps.

We enjoyed our stay at Anew Hluhluwe, the facilities were great, the buffet was really good with a variety of options and friendly staff. I loved the Zulu dancing entertainment, it was a great vibe in the evenings. The front desk staff were pleasant and it was very convenient to book the safaris at the hotel. We had an incredible guide, Israel who took us on a morning safari, he was so knowledgable and we saw 4/5 Big 5. My disappointment was that I booked to spend my birthday at this hotel and I stated on my booking that I would like something special done for the evening at dinner, I reminded the staff at check-in and the dinner staff the day before, yet my bday was not acknowledged the next day at dinner. I was extremely disappointed as this is where I chose to spend my birthday with a short vacay. I did make the front desk staff and manager aware of this on check out.

We love visiting all the amenties that was around Hluhluwe.
We love visiting all the amenties that was around Hluhluwe. fot eg, the cheetah interation, Umfolozi game reserve etc We ate at the Railway breweries, steers and KFC. We got around with our own car. Not sure if I would avoid anything
Very friendly and helpful assistant manager (Ktane? not sure of the spelling of his name). Comfortable bed. Good hot water and pressure in the shower. The kitchenette is equipped to do some simple meal preparation (refrigerator/freezer, microwave, hot water kettle, and toaster oven/stovetop burner combo). Good, quiet air conditioning unit. Parking available in front of our unit. Gated property felt safe and secure. SPAR supermarket within walking distance. Good location for visiting the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park via the eastern gate.
The two bedroom cottage was cozy, had everything we needed, bird life was amazing, wifi great, restaurant food was tasty and served well, stuff was smiling and helpful, a special mention of Craig, the owner, who were extremely helpful and catered to some of our emergency needs when the town shops was shut for few days due to kzn unrest, and fed us with lots of useful information. Will be returning soon 🙂.
Girard was yet again an amazing host, professional, super friendly and went out of his way and nothing is an effort for him. Not our frst time at this hotel and he never fails to exceed our expectations. He should be promoted to being the GM at this hotel. I have travelled extensively and he would excel at any hotel in the world. He is an asset to Anew Hotel Group.
The food at Hluhluwe river lodge was out of this world!! Breakfast and supper was first class. My wife and I went on honey moon and we were blown away. They accommodated us with everything we needed. Very considerate as they even helped us arrange game drives and activities in St Lucia. Amazingly friendly staff!! Nothing but compliments for Hluhluwe River Lodge
Perfect location for our visits to I-Simangaliso and Hluhluwe National Parks. Accommodation was exceptional, food was lovely with a great wine selection! But what made the whole visit perfect was the staff, everyone was helpful and friendly. We'd definitely go back again!
For the price this place was awesome! We are on a backpacker budget and this allowed us to visit Hluhluwe-Imfolozi within our budget. Fairly good kitchen facilities and clean rooms/bathrooms! The host was so friendly, we would definitely stay here again!
The location and the surroundings were absolutely beautiful. Lots of antelope roaming around and bush babies too! Lovely
We stayed in the self catering accommodation with a shared kitchen which was lovely and clean and well equipped.
The perfect place for a work layover, it was spacious but cozy, clean and we will most certainly recommend Hluhluwe Country Cottages - we will be back and are already planning our next trip.
Lovely bush lodge with all the comforts of home. Lovely pool or jacuzzi to relax and cool down in. Close to Hluhluwe National Park for those looking to go into the park for game drives.
A nice getaway, close to Hluhluwe game reserve - easy access to day visits. A comfortable "modest" cottage. We enjoyed the view of the dam and loved that the Bushbabies visited us.
The location is great. The self catering unit was spacious. The provided equipment was not ideal...better braai equipment/tools and stuff like more dishes would be appreciated.
Great location close to Imfolozi Hluhluwe Park, set in amongst natural forest and easy to get to. Outstanding restaurant, Delish, at the entrance to the Kuleni Game Park.
Thank you for the excellent hospitality and the special set up done for my daughter's birthday. In her own words: "This is the best hotel that we have ever been to".
