The town is very easily layed out and full of history.
The town is very easily layed out and full of history. Guided and unguided tours are available to visit the war that took place in the area. The richness in history and facts are felt throughout town. Not many restaurants available. Ensure that you do visit the area and plan enough time to visit at least two war sites.

Ladysmith is a great stopping off point between Johannesburg and Durban and has the excellent Nambiti Game reserve and the battlefields close by. Not sure I would want to walk the streets at night but it has all the shopping that you may want. Breakfast by Promise was absolutely out of this world. Choices were varied from cereal, muffins, yoghurt, juices, coffees and a cooked meal. Caters for every taste bud. The hostess Illona was friendly, welcoming and made us feel right at home. Loved her cat too. Will definitely recommend Peaches and Cream to anyone traveling to Ladysmith
