With a leafy terrace and cosy restaurant, Crown Inn offers cooked breakfasts and free WiFi. The hotel is situated in the quiet hamlet of Marston Montgomery, on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park with easy access from the M6, M1, and A50.

This was one of the best business trips I've had in a long time and it was a result of the staff at the Crown Inn. From the moment I checked in after a brutal travel day, to the point that I was sadly leaving, the staff went above and beyond to take care of me. Initially, I was treated in a very professional manner, but as my time there went on, I ascended into 'like family' territory. The staff took it upon themselves to identify that I was a lone traveler, a stranger in a strange land, and made recommendations on things to do with my spare time, things to taste and invited me into banter in the pub. By the end of my stay, I truly felt like I've known these people for years. Staff cohesion was really good. Watching how they communicated with each other to manage patrons' needs and the rotation of duties gave me confidence that any employee approached could resolve any request quickly. The breakfast menu could benefit from a bit more variety, but everything on the menu was very good. I strongly suggest the Full English breakfast for the true British experience. I would have liked to see more fruit/vegetable options at breakfast, but that may be logistically difficult in how they manage breakfast based on occupancy. It's not a large hotel and planning food for guests is a bit more pointed than buffet style at larger hotels. The dinner menu was great and had some variety by day. Again, many traditional English dishes, all scratch cooked with top shelf ingredients. I was also fortunate to experience the Sunday Roast special, which was out of this world! The pub had a nice selection of beverages to suit all tastes. Empty glasses and tables were cleaned very quickly. Pub patrons were a healthy mix of locals and travelers and was very inclusive.

Dinner was excellent. Breakfast was excellent on our first day but not as good on the other two days and there were probably not enough staff on those days.

Great place for family or group to stay. Lendow cottage was warm and comfortable. We ate in most nights and it was extremely well equipped everything you needed. Dishwasher was so very welcome! Plenty of crockery and cutlery. The Knockerdown Inn was just a short stroll through the gate. Very welcoming and great food and beer.

Lovely little inn, cosy warm and inviting. Lovely host to meet us on arrival. Our room was lovely, clean, good size and had the most amazing view from the patio doors. Lovely little play area with chickens and rabbits for children. Lovely breakfast. Great location for alton towers. We will definitely be staying again and bringing the grandkids to enjoy the outside in the summer
