Pikillaqta
A large Wari village, Pikillaqta was mysteriously abandoned in 1100 AD and soon after set ablaze. Despite ancient attempts at arson, the site is still wonderfully intact. You’ll wander the streets and plazas amongst temples, communal buildings, homes and storage structures – some of the buildings an impressive 4-storeys high!

One of the wonders of the world.
One of the wonders of the world. Get tickets and prepare for a long visit.
It is crowded, but well worth it. Assume you are surrounded by pickpockets. Wear a money belt and keep your hand on your phone.

Compared with the exquisite houses Gaudi created, I was not thrilled by this cathedral. The tour company kept us waiting and waiting as it changed the person to guide us. And he was not knowledgeable or informing.

Definitely, book a tour guide.
Definitely, book a tour guide. There is so much symbolism in the Sagrada that you may miss it if you go alone.
Church services on Sunday that anyone can attend without paying an entrance fee (obviously).

Make sure you make reservations in advance to see this incredible structure that is still under construction. It's a favorite of visitors and quite crowded at times. Gaudi was
a remarkable man. Be sure to visit the museum with a good video.

The outside view is the attraction.
The outside view is the attraction. The inside was indeed picturesque in the Gaudí vision. I thought that the inside was very noisy and disrespectful for the nature of a "church". Lots of tour guides and people. Looking back I would say this is a great visit to see Gaudí's work. I wouldn't go inside to see a "holy" place and say a prayer. You can skip the inside.

The most wonderful church in the world.
The most wonderful church in the world. It's a masterpiece made of stone, sun, light and a deep faith of the builders. You can really feel the presence of God, despite the fact hat there are so many people inside. We enjoyed it so much! If you want to pray in peace and quiet, remember that there is a special place for it behind the main place with the cross.

Overall, this apartment ticks all the boxes for a fantastic stay:)
The hotel was beautiful and the roof terrace has an amazing view of Barcelona. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was great. The location is about a 25min walk from Sagrada Familia and a bit longer to get to the Old Town centre, but we knew this when booking. We used the Yego scooters to get around.
The hotel held our bags when we looked around the city on our last day.
What a place to stay, apartments were amazing, location was excellent, right round the corner from Sagrada Familia, 4 minute walk to the metro that will have you in the center of Barcelona within 15-20 mins and the staff were so helpful and friendly, We travelled as a group of 9 and had 2 apartments which were very spacious, well equipped with all the amenities that you require, lots of extra towels, blankets, pillows. Couldn't fault this place at all. EXCELLENT, thank you so much Sensation Sagrada Familia for a wonderful trip....
Each day you have a different free night club for this hostel guests.
Easy to spot when you are going home (between the identical streets of Barcelona).
Near the metro station. Near the Sagrada Família.
Lots of cheap restaurants nearby.
Excellent to meet new people from other european countries.
Modern clean hotel in very convenient location if using Barcelona Sants train station. Nearby metro only a few stops into the city centre and also to Sagrada Familia. Reception very friendly, with a welcome drink on arrival. Breakfast was excellent (cheaper on check in than if booked in advance) - large buffet with hot and cold food, juice, fruit, coffee, omelettes made to order. Room was spacious with large comfy bed, complimentary bottles of water.
Very good location, central area, close to the bus station, but you can also walk easly to Sagrada Familia or Rambla for example.
The hostel is very nice, situated in a beautiful building, with gentle staff, good atmosfere and the breakfast is all you need to start a wonderful day in Barcelona.
The hotel was located right next to La Sagrada Familia on a quiet street. The staff at the reception was friendly and helpful. They would do everything to make your experience the best. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Barcelona.
The hotel is near hospital de Sant Pau and Sagrada Familia. The view from the room was wonderful, looking at beautiful building of UAB Idiomes Barcelona university.
Great staff! Hotel located in an amazing position, near restaurants and high points of attractions like the Barcelona Cathedral, La Sagrada Familia and the Museum of Wax. Also easy access to metro stations and shopping centers!
The hotel is located in the heart of Barcelona. Many destinations are within walking distance and the metro to Sagrada Familia leaves right next to it. The interior of the hotel was amazing and the room was really beautiful. The bathroom had bathrobes and slippers which brought luxury to the stay. Breakfast was in the basement which had a calm and homely atmosphere. The breakfast was varied and included healthy options. The staff was friendly throughout our stay.

If you visit Goudi's Battlo house do so after doing the Barcelona tourist bus trip (buy tickets from the underground Information office (good english plus you can get Sagrada familia tickets for a timed entrance thus avoiding the queues) in Pl Catalunya next to El Corte Ingles){ same ticket can be used on red, blue and green routes although green is all but worthless} and along with ticket/s you get a discount booklet incl 3 Euro off the price of Battlo (21euro entry) which you can then spend on the audio/visual tablet which shows you the furniture which was in each room, desks, tables/chairs and altar etc which greatly enhances the understanding of this dragon house

It also shows where Goudi developed some of the ideas used in the Sagrada Familia. The opportunity to have your photo taken (10 euro photo or 13 euro photo + digital download ) from the highest sharks mouth balcony should be taken as it will probably be one of the few which includes everyone rather than excludes the one holding the camera.
