Set in London, 200 metres from Banqueting House, The Civil Service Club has a restaurant and rooms with free WiFi access.
This is great we found less crowds in the early evening (which makes for good photos as well). Also it is worth noting it doesn't actually stop for getting on and off, (it doesn't go fast), but handy to know if you are old or have little kids.
Pay extra to avoid the queue. We had bought tix, but didn’t pay to avoid the queue, thinking it wasn’t necessary bc of timed tix. However, just-let-out school kids overwhelmed the line & made it impossibly long so we couldn’t get in before closing.
When you want a good view over London this is the place to go. You can't see the whole city, but a large part of it. Even when you are afraid of heights this is an attraction for you. And there is airconditioning in it, which was nice on the very hot day we visited it.
Pay the bit extra to upgrade your ticket to the VIP pass (I think it cost us an extra £20 on our family of four ticket) & download the QR code to your smartphone we visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon & instead of having to queue to collect tickets then join the massive queue for the eye which was approximately 45 mins when we were there we walked up joined a separate queue had our code scanned & were on the attraction within 15 minutes it was most definitely worth the bit extra we paid.
We went on a boat cruise of the Thames on NYE and we watched the fireworks on the Eye. The cruise was OK not great and very cramped with terrible food. However the vibe was good and its the best spot for the countdown
We decided last minute not to pay extra for skip the lane and we got in within 5 minutes. It didn't take long at all!! Well if you don't mind a small wait time. Check how busy it is before you pay extra is my tip! May not be busy at all.
The room was excellent, as the view was more than amazing! Friendly staff helped us with every one of our requests, safety measures are taken seriously, therefore we felt safe and homey during our stay, even in the middle of lockdown! Great location, very close to the tube and necessary shops. Just a walking distance from The London Eye. Would definitely love to stay there again! Also, it is definitely worth booking the room with a city view, it was breathtaking!
The location is fantastic and the views are honestly breathtaking. It was a really enjoyable stay and a very clean and modern apartment. The host communicated very well and was reassuring and definitely made the stay better. the key collection is effortless, safe and quick. A lot of options of restaurants to order from and also a nice kitchen to use to cook. A lot of train connections and London eye and the Shard just 15min away.
Definitely worth upgrading your room, had a view of the London Eye. Great location, very clean and covid safe room. Very comfortable bed and breakfast well planned, grab and go bag. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel extremely clean and well thought out covid restrictions ie. only letting two in the lift - well done and keep up the great work
I strongly recommend a location of the accommodation. It is very close to Victoria Coach Station, also Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Oxford Street, London Eye...all these frequently visited sights are quite close to the accommodation. The cleanliness of the room was fine.
Amazing London eye view from my bed!! And covid restrictions and cautions taken seriously. I felt very safe and the hotel was extremely clean. The birthday balloons and cake made the stay extra special so thank you!
Everything was perfect except one thing when I booked big room was london eye view but at reception no one ask us which rooms .
I bought tickets in advance because in 2014 they started charging to see the London Eye fireworks. I got there around 7PM with my friends and there were so many people getting in! Took me a while to get past the place they check your tickets but after you pass that you get plenty of time and space to settle. The fireworks were beautiful. To anyone planning to spend the NYE in London: bring food, water and get a good spot as soon as you can. You're probably only going to be able to leave the area around 1AM anyway. The subways stay open until late but they also get super crowded with people heading back home.
I would recommend the combination of attractions, and to book in advance. The London Eye was an amazing experience, the London Dungeons & Madame Tussaud's. The SeaLife Aquarium was good & we were able to casually walk around in there.
The main attractions can be seen and information gained from different types of tours from the London Eye and City Bus Tours to digital audio yours within different individual attractions visited.
