Impressive site, wonderful to visit by boat at only £2 each way and you can walk the causeway when the tide is low . So beautiful to walk the coast and watch the sun set over this amazing place. Back on the mainland: Very pretty little village, with a couple of restaurant and hotel to choice from, and a pub or two. Nice to wonder along the street and take time out to relax , lovely beach just alone the road , all walking distance.
St Michaels Mount is fantastic. The climb to the castle is challenging but well worth it. It is full of history and atmosphere. The tour of the village was really informative too and the short boat ride to the island was great fun. As the island is run by the fantastic National Trust it also has great catering. The Gadolfin Hotel in Marazion has a fantastic view of the island and the food there was great. Unfortunately the car parks in Marazion are run by the local mafia! They do not allow parking overnight so if you are staying in a b&b that does not have parking you will have a problem. The attendants are jobsworths who tell you the car park is full when there are spaces available. They need to be more amenable to tourists who pay their wages!
Excellent, but uneven cobblestone to the Mount, and rocky pathway to castle, unsuitable if mobility problems. Very busy in Easter break with an hour long queue for a boat back to Marazion at high tide.
Well worth the stank up, maintains a 'cosy' atmosphere in any weather. Allow yourself time to soak up the castle feel, and linger in each area. Really Ask the guides anything about it's past or present. Good to see Cornwall from the sea for a change too.
Beautiful; and the fantastic display and video at the base of the mount made it educational and fun although we could not afford to go into the castle. We saw a lot about best bits of the castle and life on the mount for free. A lovely way to spend a morning. I hope to return soon to do a real investigation into the castle itself😊
Fascinating history, gardens are really worth the effort if you are interested in gardening. path to the property is very steep and rough in places not recommended for those with walking difficulties. I am not sure if there is a 'disabled' access facility but it didn't appear so.
Marazion
We’ve been on a Cornwall road trip for 8 nights and this is the best hotel we’ve stayed in. The loft is beautifully decorated and it has everything you need to unwind from a busy day. The view is stunning and you are just 5 mins walk away from st Michael’s mount and 8 miles drive to st Ives. We also really enjoyed the Cornish scones when we arrived and the bed is the most comfortable we’ve had all trip. We also really enjoyed our Cornish breakfast in the morning with a stunning view! You will just love it here! ❤️
Breakfast was amazing and set us up for the day. Room was exceptionally clean with all amenities and a large comfortable bed. The room we chose had a sea view and what a stunning view of St Michael’s Mount! Everyone working at the Marazion Hotel were very attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. A lovely relaxing lounge was a pleasure to quietly unwind in. We will definitely be rebooking at the Marazion Hotel in the not too distant future
The property had been recently renovated and was absolutely exquisite. We loved the breathtaking views of the st Michael’s mount and the castle from our hotel room and the restaurant- looked like something out of a fairy tale. The bed in our room was really comfy and so we managed a good nights sleep. Most of all the breakfast was so so delicious. We will definitely be back!
