If you don't want to queue and pay, take a walk and follow the signs for a circular walk. You'll end up going out towards a church and on the route back you come out overlooking the castle and get z pretty good view

Escape to the chateau, it was not !!!
Escape to the chateau, it was not !!! Dick and Angel could teach these owners a few things about Castle-hosting, Customer Service and Value for Money ! - The description of this hotel speaks volumes i.e. visit a family home ?? unfortunately the owners seemed to forget to focus any effort on the comfort or needs of their very high paying customers at £290 per night for a family room we expected 75% better quality experience than we had - our room was very very shabby, with the cheapest possible en-suite bathroom caravan cubicle and a 'laughable "flat-screen" TV no bigger than a postage stamp ! with dirty/shabby furniture, poor lighting and threadbare carpets., all originals no doubt but not to the level anyone would expect for this eye-watering room rate. The views are indeed beautiful and so our advice is visit the views but stay somewhere else. Owners appeared self-focused, which if they were not running Camelot Castle as a hotel for paying guests would be their right -. We eventually moved to another hotel at our own cost which was 'superb' at a much lower rate of £199/night - the Camelot did wipe our bar bill as we had to move, but realistically this was the 'least they could do' for running this mis-represented hotel accommodation.

Note that it is still shut until later in the year (currently July 2019). Signs around still state 'Spring 2019' and while you can view the castle, you can't go through it until the new bridge is complete. There is a historic Norman church and graveyard on an opposite cliff that I also highly recommend! Less well known but very beautiful.

The castle itself was pretty incredible, & the views were absolutely stunning. Really, the only thing we werent impressed with was the ensuite bathroom. It looked pretty similar to a portaloo, with a built-in shower, very small & differcult to move about in.

The views from the Castle is gorgeous.
The views from the Castle is gorgeous. Be aware the room are pretty tired look and the bathroom is tinyyyyyyyy . The closest explanation would be an airplane bathroom with additional space for the tiniest shower I've ever been in. Eat out in town if possible, restaurant prices are very high and food was less than satisfactory.

Our room was in the annex of the building, a large room with excellent facilities. Comfortable bed, large shower with toiletries provided. Room had good heating. Breakfast was included in our price and served in the hotel, with a choice of continental and cooked option. Free car parking provided in local car park, with guest parking ticket. Easy walking to Tintagel castle.
We had a great room with a bay window looking out towards Tintagel castle so were very happy with the view. The room was large and the bed and bedding were nice and comfortable. We visited at xmas and the decorations and rooms looked lovely for the season. The hotels an interesting atmosphere and "quirky" giving it a nice charm to alot of "normal" hotels I stay at. Great place to have a walk along the cliffs from in the wind and have a well prepared and delicious meal, we loved our stay.
Excellent location... Right by the entrance to Tintagel Castle... Bar serves decent food and the staff are extremely friendly... Free secure parking at the Hotel.
Location is a walking distance to Tintagel Castle, free car park for hotel guest even after check out is an added value. Spacious room and bathroom which is very comfortable.
The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. the bathroom was pleasant and clean with the appropriate toiletries.
The hotel is well placed for sightseeing in Tintagel. It is next door to the ticket office for Tintagel castle and well placed for the shops etc in the town. There is ample private car-parking, albeit on a steeply sloping site (we unloaded at the top of the hill and then took the car down in to the car-park. Breakfast was good and plentiful and other food in the pub was well priced and reasonable.
Great parking behind the hotel. The location is perfect for strolling along the few shops and also to walk to Tintagel Castle. The food was very good. We shared the fish platter for dinner and breakfast was awesome. Very accommodating to my gluten free friend. Very quiet in the evening. Nice, friendly staff.
My husband and I enjoyed 2 nights at the Cornishman Inn. The breakfast was excellent, cereal, fruit and cooked breakfast. The bedroom was very good with a very good bathroom. The location is ideal, right in the town and just a few minute's walk to Tintagel Castle. We ate in the hotel restaurant which was outstanding. The presentation and quality of the meals was excellent. The staff were very attentive and welcoming. We would definitely stay again.
Great location - close to the coast path, Tintagel castle, pubs, shops, to everything. Friendly and relaxed host. Nice vibe. Clean (for a hostel). Calm at night. Good coffee, pleasant communal area
The hostel is in a very nice location, close to the Tintagel Castle. We slept in a room with two other guests. The rooms are new, the bed comfortable and the bathroom essential. You can prepare breakfast by your own in the common kitchen downstairs. It includes milk, coffee, juice, cereals and bread. The garden outside is very comfortable with sofas, tables and there is a very cool common room with a billiards.
The apartment was clean and well presented . I was expecting a garden for the dogs but it was actually ok as just as you walk out of the door there is a large grassland area where the dogs can go .
The hotel grounds are vast and the apartment was situated right by the cliffs . The views of the sea and tintagel castle are amazing and you can see them from the windows just breathtaking !
The apartment facilities are very adequate
