You need £7 in coins to pay for the car park, I am 60 (quite fit) and did the walk up in the rain 2 hours & back down 1.45 hours. Very slippery coming down take poles if you have them, and remember it is 8 degrees colder at the top, so you need gloves & hat

An excellent apartment that was veautifully decorated with ample walking from the front door. A short drive to the wasdale head car park for scafell and lots to do in the area as long as you're outdoorsy. On the day it rained, we stayed inside and watched films on the cosy sofa

We had a fantastic stay made special by all the team at the Strands Hotel and Scree Inn. A lovely welcome, comfy ensuite room, delicious, homemade food, and beer brewed just metres from the bar (we tried them all!). The breakfasts were great too. Brilliantly located for Wasdale Head - we walked all the way from the hotel to the Wasdale Head Inn.

Fantastic serene location. If your aim is to get away from the hustle and bustle then you will find some peace and tranquillity here for sure. The cottage is well maintained and unlike previous places i have stayed there was always hot water. After a long days of hiking you don't want to run out of hot water. Very close to Wasdale if you want to hike up Scafell Pike and surrounding areas.

The kitchen was closed (covid issues) so the restaurant was not operating, but the all the staff were very good and the brewery was still open, which meant we got a more than excellent range of real ales. The 6% mild is worth the trip to this hotel alone. The location is excellent for climbing Scafell Pike and walking the many walks around Wasdale. With no kitchen we walked to other establishments to eat but that was no bother as was bringing in a pie for Tea which we ate drinking everyone of the real ales on selection.
