FAQs about hotels in Turin

Shrouded in Sophistication

Italy’s first capital, sophisticated Turin has many elegant buildings and porticoed streets. Large Piazza Castello is the focal point and centres on Palazzo Madama, an unusual structure with a Renaissance façade and medieval body.

The next door Royal Palace backs onto Turin Cathedral, home to the Turin Shroud, the cloth with an imprint of Christ only rarely on display. Its museum is just one of the many fantastic Turin museums. None is better than the Egyptian Museum, the largest collection of Egyptian artefacts outside Cairo. Also noteworthy is the Mole Antonelliana, housing displays on Italian cinema and supposedly the world’s tallest museum.

By the Po, Italy’s longest river, is the Parco del Valentino, a tranquil park that is home to the Borgo Medievale, an artificial, medieval-style settlement with a castle.

However, within Italy, Turin is best known for sport and cars. FIAT is based here and nostalgia lovers can visit the rooftop track on top of their old Lingotto factory, now a conference centre. The city’s 2 Serie A football clubs - Torino and Juventus - also have electric atmospheres at their games.

Watch out for amazing views of the Alps as you fly into Turin Airport. Public transport then quickly links you to your Booking.com hotel, B&B or hostel.

Many opt for Milan over Turin, but it's time to reverse that trend. Turin isn't just an industrial city as commonly perceived; it's a stunning destination steeped in history, once the residence of the King of Italy. With its abundance of historical landmarks, excellent shopping, and delightful dining options, Turin offers a tranquil ambiance distinct from other Italian cities. Its compact size allows for leisurely strolls, making it a perfect getaway.

It was a cultural shock to me, visiting for the first time...

It was a cultural shock to me, visiting for the first time and coming from a town and region that lacks the level of art, architecture, structured urban life, well organized public transport, many other things. I couldn't pick one or two places as favorites, there were many interesting spots, nice parks and public spaces, shops. Turin has rich history, is important as the hometown of Juventus, FIAT, Lavazza, to mention few. The city is overcrowded on weekends, Italians like to enjoy meals or beverages in restaurants or bars. Monday is usually a free day, and placed close for a few hours around lunch every day, so have in mind that when visiting. One cannot see everything in several days, so I hope to return again to round up the places not visited on this trip.

The city has a lot to offer from museums and galleries to...

The city has a lot to offer from museums and galleries to shopping and site seeing. We only stayed for two days which is not enough really to see everything. I’d recommend purchasing the City card as it offers quite a lot of free or discounted entries to many museums , however some museums have a timed entry slots and require a booking online only Egyptian museum for example , we missed out on that one .Be prepared to spend quite a lot of time walking around museums and galleries as they are big and there’s a lot to see . If traveling on the weekend then definitely try to book a restaurant for an evening meal as they get really really busy and it’s almost impossible to find anywhere where you can just walk in , we found out the hard way and after a lot of walking and not being able to get anywhere we were almost at the point of giving up and just by pure chance stumbled upon a nice restaurant that found a table for us and we had a lovely meal after all .Unlike UK most restaurants do not open until 7pm , but during day time there’s a lot of small coffee and pizza places offering pizzas , panini , sandwiches , light bites and of course famous Italian coffee . Don’t expect to find a large cappuccino as I’m pretty sure they don’t exist in Italy . A tip from my friend who lives in Italy is to always look after your bag and belongings while walking the streets as unfortunately street crime is very high in Italy and police won’t do much about it if you were robbed . Also the night life tip is to always look after your drinks as drink spiking is one of the most committed crimes in big cities like Turin , Rome , Milan etc . So enjoy your visit but always stay cautious .

I had the attic room that was way more room than I needed but was great. There was 3 beds in 3 different rooms. The bathroom was the biggest bath out of any of the places that I stayed at while staying in Italy for a month. I believe there is a community bath in a partial space of the hotel for a couple rooms but they are what I believe to be for those rooms only. I would ask about that if concerned. Other than that I would ask for the attic room. It’s the size of an entire apartment and 3 couples would be comfortable up there or a family.

The breakfast was excellent with a good selection of food. There is freshly brewed coffee as well as a coffee machine. There is a pleasant dining area and helpful staff. Coffee and pastries are available in the dining area if you have to leave before breakfast starts. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. This hotel is in a great location if you need to be close to the station (Porta Susa). Otherwise, we would choose a quieter and more central location. Our room was clean and comfortable.

B and B Carlo Alberto is in the best location! It is within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, cultural attractions and local transportation including the train station. The room was on the smaller size (about the same as small boutique hotels in Italy) but the shower was bigger and very nice. The breakfast in the morning was adequate with a variety of juices, pastries, cheese, meat and as much cappuccino that you can drink!

The staff were really fantastic, I had read in the reviews that the service was good, and was not disappointed. Attentive, helpful, and considerate (and funny). The interior was clean and contemporary, the bed was comfortable, and they turned on the air-conditioner before our arrival, which was thoughtful. This was the best hotel we stayed at on our week-long road trip through Italy. Great find. Highly recommended.
