Very peaceful country location with nice scenic views when out walking. Very well appointed and comfortable rooms with everything you need. Excellent 6 and 4 course dinners. Breakfast was equally varied and tasty. Justin and his team were brilliant in the kitchen and Justin was visible at dinner and breakfast to ensure everyone enjoyed the food.

The Big Five Bed and breakfast, hotel in Windy

Offering a garden and garden view, The Big Five Bed and breakfast is set in Mooirivier, 24 km from Bosch Hoek Golf Club and 37 km from Fort Nottingham Museum.

The staff were extremely friendly, the breakfast were amazing. The staff came to apologize about 20 times for the loadshedding when it was out of their control. For those traveling or looking for a place to stay that is quiet and an at home feel I highly recommend it, it is not like a hotel room so please do not expect that.

I left the place after the first night, the accommodation was worse than that of a squatter camp. Totally unfit and unsafe for human accommodation. This place has serious mold and mildew problems, together with rotting ceilings, cornice boards missing and much more. The TV is analogue and that service stopped a year ago, so should not be advertised as available. The electricity to the holiday accommodations was off. All the neighbour farms and the main house had electricity. No provision for outages except a candle. If you would like photos sent to a whatsapp number please send a number. I don't know how to attach the many photos I have taken.

we drove the back roads to the west of mooi river to get there starting in rosetta and ending up at sycamore tree lodge. was an interesting drive on both tar and dirt. there is a major road upgrade between mooi river and elandskop so drive carefully. a nice day trip from mooi river to underberg via loteni but avoid during inclement weather. best attempted during may to august in the dry season.

This was a quiet and cosy retreat and allowed us to wind down. It got cold, but there were electric blankets and heaters and ample extra blankets to make it a cosy stay. TV reception and cell phone reception were sketchy but that is to be expected on a farm stay in the mountains. The hosts were very accommodating for our wishes with breakfast, and were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. I would definitely recommend Wild Berry for people looking to get away from the hustle of city and work.

We loved the spa bath out in its own little wooden house, the fireplace was amazing. We enjoyed the quietness of the place, no TV or wifi was actually perfect and resulted in us feeling absolutely recharged after the weekend. The dogs were pretty cool too! And of course the trees are amazing!
