The location was beautiful in front of the lake. The boat was free to use and good fun. Plenty of board games, an old school pac man game, alpacas and wallabies! So much stuff to do. The cabin was beautiful and quirky with kitsch decor. Here were tea and coffee facilities and a wood burner. The bed was really comfy too! We felt so relaxed and peaceful and Wendy added some nice personal touches around the place such as a welcome plaque with our names on and hand written messages in the kitchen. Would highly recommend staying here. We will be back!

Perfect space, facilities and location. Having the river 10 metres away was perfect for our dog, and it's a lovely walk in both directions. Also, the path was well lit for the walk home from the City at night.

Peaceful location within a pine forest. We had great weather for walks in and around the forest and fields. Starry skies at night lay in hot tub. Lodge was immaculately presented with everything we needed. Comfortable beds and nice linen. Bath robes and slippers provided (nice little touch). Definitely going to be visiting again. 15 mins to get into York if you leave early enough.

The view will be gone soon as lodges are being built directly behind so it will be quite boxed in which is a pity as it does have a photo of a field behind it .

We would highly recommend the tickled trout to stay there or eat in the restaurant. The outdoor “ski lodge” with fondue, raclette, log burner etc is great. Well done to everyone, especially Ian, Katie & Donald. We will be back and look toward to seeing you all again soon!

Free, off road parking is a big plus in York. If en-suite is a MUST, then look elsewhere, as the bathroom and kitchen are shared, although we didn't see anyone except the owners. Astonishing value - we paid half the price of the city Travelodges for a Saturday and Sunday night stay.
