The Jacamar Lodge Expeditions is located on the banks of the Amazon River, in the middle of the jungle and 120 km from downtown Iquitos.

It is a rustic hostel that offers a variety of activities in the river and jungle. Jacamar Lodge Expeditions's bungalows are built with rustic materials and have private bathrooms, a terrace overlooking the river, mosquito nets and kerosene lamps.

After having stayed a night in Iquitos, I wanted to experience the jungle and decided to stay at a lodge. I am thrilled that I chose the Jacamar lodge - not necessarily for the lodge (basic and rustic accommodation, fairly priced), but because of the fantastic staff at the lodge and the amazing tour guide. I booked a night at the lodge, and was soon contacted to arrange a guide through the lodge (a must do, as it is difficult to explore independently). My guide Christian knew the jungle inside out, spotted so many animals, was telling beautiful stories about the life in the jungle, and was very knowledgable about the plants and animals. In my two days in the jungle I did a jungle walk, night walk to spot reptiles (saw frogs, snakes, tarantulas, other spiders, bats, etc.), a 5:30 am sunset birdwatching cruise, dolphin spotting, and we went to a rescue center for monkeys rescued from the exotic animal trade. Please note that these were the activities that I wanted to do - Christian said from the beginning that I can chose what to do, and he will guide me. The activities were exceptional, but even the boat rides through the big and small rivers framed by dense forest, looking to spot animals and hearing about life in the jungle was magical. The food at the lodge was very good. At the beginning they asked me about allergies and if I don't eat specifc things - I only eat fish and vegetarian food, and they cooked me great meals using the regional ingredients from the jungle.

A large apartment, nicely appointed. Staff helped us find places to eat and shop in the area, and helped us get our luggage up the stairs to the room. They did our laundry for a reasonable fee. They held our luggage while we stayed at a jungle lodge down the river for a few nights.

It’s a beautiful lodge right at the river. It’s quite far away (about 30 minutes drive from plaza de armas) but this was what I was looking for to have some piece and quite. I really liked the rooms but the best part about it was the staff and the family running the lodge. Everyone put a lot of effort into making me feel comfortable and at home.

We absolutely loved our stay in Pablo's and Lorena's Lodge and had an amazing time. The two are very special and they and their team cared so much about our well-being and experiences we would make in Iquitos and the beautiful nature around it. We would come any time back and wish everyone only the best! 🥰

The lodge was amazing, no windows, only nets instead, so at night you can hear all the natural sounds from birds and other animals. You can also swim in the river just from you lodge. There were also hammocks, chairs. Breakfast was great, the owner very helpful. They also offered some tours to buy, a guide and transportation to the city.

This place was AMAZING and I loved staying here. The owner, Cesar, was always available, kind, and helped with everything, whether the questions were about food, transportation, or the room. The staff were tremendously helpful and courteous, warm, and always ready to assist. Sleeping in a lodge on the water was a treat and I definitely will return to this beautiful place and recommend it to everyone.

The family who operate the lodge were welcoming and helped me with everything! The food was amazing. Also, the location is perfect for connecting to nature in the amazon jungle. They have daily excursions and bring you anywhere you need to go. They also have canoes if you'd like to adventure on your own. And not to mention Matilda, the adorable monkey who hangs around in the jungle behind the lodge. Overall, my favorite experience in Peru!

Lovely lodge on the river, surprisingly dense of animals given the closeness to Iquitos. Quite calm area, ideal for a canoe trip. Very friendly stuff that provided transportation from Iquitos and good food. Highly recommended.

Location is central in front of a plaza where you find restaurant and some small markets. Luis was a great host very eager to make his guests happy. He recommended a laundry service and an Amazon lodge which fitted our budget and needs. The superior room is nicer than economy, but both types are fine.

Amazing location, close to Iquitos. The family that host the Lodge is so nice and it’s a real privilege to talk and share moments with them. The room is spotless, the food is super good (especially the ceviche). The excursion to understand more the insects, the Yagua Tribe and the walk in the Forest was super great. We do recommend the Amazon Floating Lodge !
