With mountain views, Esther's Country Lodge is located in Hekpoort and has a restaurant, room service, bar, garden, year-round outdoor pool and terrace. The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge.

This simple accomodation together with a nice freshly cooked breakfast was fair value for money. The owners and the staff were very pleasant. The facility, being quite new was pleasant. The room security was better than ever experienced, with 14 Bolt main door and very secure entrance to the open garden. The location is on a rural main road and the property is secured with full surrounding high electric fencing and solid steel gate. Almost inpenetrable, but a sign of the crime sitution in S Africa. We felt very secure inside the property, though.

Everything was perfect. Washington was an exceptional employee. Hope he is rewarded for his patience, humour, personality and caring. Food was delicious. Many thanks to the talented chef. Cleaner was top notch. Laundry done was first class. Clothes don't get that sort of treatment at home!!!! The view we had from the rooftop of our room was exquisite. Walking around the property alongside the river was very relaxing.

The quietness of the area made us feel at peace. The natural look, a hone away from home. The thatched roofs are fascinating, and making the room cool.

It is so quiet and peaceful at the lodge with an amazing view and absolutely loved the frogs at the pond nearby croaking through the night. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff was very kind, friendly and helpful at all times.

We had such a lovely time at Steynshoop for our work retreat. Peter and Thabo took excellent care of us throughout the stay, and kept us fed on delicious, generous home cooked meals. We had an amazing game drive at a lodge nearby that was recommended by Peter and were thrilled by the presence of game at Steynshoop that we could watch from the Lapa area. Beds were lovely and comfortable. Highly recommend staying here for a relaxing break away.

The lodge is really beautiful, just like the photos! Cottage had everything we needed and beds were really comfortable. We had the place to ourselves which was awesome. Just a note that often both the mountain and valley lodges are booked out by groups, which means the hotel restaurant isn't always open. So either bring all food with or be prepared to take a short drive to neighboring lodges for restaurants. We went to Esther's for dinner which was excellent.

The location is wonderful, set against the Magalies mountain range. Apparently one of the highest lodges in the area. The Valley Lodge is self-catering units with amenities, and there is the Mountain Lodge up the road with a wonderful restaurant and stunning views.
