Laura was a delightful hostess, and we enjoyed chatting with her about the property, the White Desert area, and the peaceful environment. She arranged our transfers to and from our hotel in Giza, and booked our tour to the Black and White desert. Our guide Hamedi was so knowledgeable, and served a delicious Bedouin dinner in the desert. The vast area offers a treasure of geological features and is virtually free of tourists.

All rooms are fitted with Bedouin, handmade carpeted floors. Each one includes a small window and comes with a private bathroom. I'll start with how breakfast was thoughtful and delightful! Definitely worth waking up for, so fresh! They have the most thoughtful and helpful staff and in addition to their own staff, they are well connected with the community. They were able to arrange everything we wanted to do, and typically under a very tight timeline. They also have a lovely little shop that his packed with local delights. I was visiting with family but it was a trip I took with my sister and our children, and notably without any adult male. As a single mom, it is always important to be able to feel safe and secure in new places. Talist hit and exceeded the mark here! Would recommend 100%.

Albabenshal is located outside the ruins of Old Shali, a 13th century citadel in the centre of Siwa. It offers a traditional Siwa accommodation with free Wi-Fi. Cleopatra Bath is within 2 km away from the hotel. The location is great, right at the central market area. (although it is wrongly marked on the maps.me app). The hotel has an very earthy feel. The walls are made of mud and earth, and the earth floor unpaved. A very rustic feel. The manager Mr Salama is a swell guy, easygoing, candid, helpful but not pushy. A good chap to talk to to better understand the Siwa people and life in Egypt in general. He helps guests get to know each other and share vehicle costs etc. They serve very nice dinners, and all the numerous coffee my fellow guests and I had at the fireplace or alfresco, were on the house. Much thanks to Mr Salama and his remarkable staff.
