A plain, clean, no-frills lodging for a night's sleep waiting for the morning ferry to Newhaven. Front desk staffed 24-hours. Night staff were helpful and friendly and willingly gave me a wake-up call at five in the morning. Judging by the name it may have originally been a hostel for seamen. It certainly felt like that, and the room's size and basic furnishing was very like an onboard crew cabin.
No nonsense basic accomodation. Think Travelodge with smaller rooms.
We stayed in the safari tent, beds were comfy and shower great, swimming pool was great and lots of space for the kids to run around in, I would say it’s better suited to smaller children my teenage children did get a little bored at times as it very rural really not much to do around for them
Family owned lodge, very sympatic and helpful in regard of any questions, tour planning etc. We will come back if we are in the region again. For sure will stay longer that time.
Beautiful stand-alone 'lodge', private, cosy...
We had a fantastic stay at the Orpheus Lodge! Ideal location, high standards of fitting and comfort, welcoming and friendly hosts, and excellent amenities meeting all our needs perfectly. We highly recommend the Orpheus Lodge to anyone visiting Giverny!
The location was perfect, in a very pretty, historic, rural part of France. The property itself is an old, nicely renovated farm which retains the charm of the old. It is in a lovely garden setting, very comfortable, and furnished with all you need, except, perhaps, for reliable wifi. It was patchy much of the time. Our only (small) disappointment was the breakfast - the croissants and bread were from the day before - inevitable in a remote area - and we would have loved to have some local fruit.
Hotel equates to a Travel Lodge in the UK. Rooms were small but adequate. Bed was very comfortable. Food in the evening was good and breakfast was adequate. Ideal for stopping off on the way south or north.
The location was charming and the lodging was clean and comfortable. The host was very friendly.
Location good. Very basic room. We were surprised to be staying in a basic exposed chip board lodge room. Water pressure was poor in the shower and the toilet/shower room did not have a window. Not sure of the prices in this area so presume you are paying a premium to see Mont Sant Michelle not for the basic lodgings. It was grand for a one night stop over but have had much better standard for the price paid elsewhere in France and in Brittany.
