Boasting various hot spring baths and an indoor pool, Sansuiso Tsuchiyu Spa is traditional Japanese-style accommodation located next to River Ara. Free WiFi access is available throughout the property. The Theme Park Of Cars Ebisu Circuit is a 20-minute drive away from the property.

The pictures do not do the onsen at this ryokan justice. We arrived later than I had hoped because our car's navigation lead us in the wrong direction, but the staff never made us feel guilty and helped us to check in. Our room was Japanese style with a great view of the garden and the ravine the river flows into. My tween found the futons very comfy. They worked with our dietary restrictions to make a wonderful multi-course Japanese meal, though I admit, I think I still liked the tempura course best. My tween slept through breakfast, but I really liked the fruit smoothie, which was lighter than I expected. The onsen are amazing here. There is the very traditional looking bathes overlooking a waterfall as well as two other floors of onsen, some of which rotate between men and women. Most of the onsen are also quite deep. My only regrets are we arrived late and couldn't explore the town and that I didn't buy the special chopsticks for sale here.

I love the Japanese style room, it was very spacious and comfortable and bright. The futon was laid out every night while I was having dinner, and packed away during the morning cleaning. Dinner was excellent, the hot spring baths relaxing. The property is very well set up, very well looked after, cleaned, and very well maintained, making it very comfortable

Looking for a property with onsen?

Featuring traditional Japanese hot springs known as ‘onsen’, these hotels allow you to take a relaxing soak in therapeutic geothermal waters. Traditionally, onsens were located outdoors but a number of hotels also offer indoor facilities for private or shared use. The healing properties of each onsen will vary depending on its location, with ‘kuroyu’ black water known for its positive effects on skin.

Very clean and we did not think it was bad for a smoking room. It has dehumidifier which is great, clean bathroom and have everything you need during stay. Close to shops and restaurants

Very clean establishment and well equipped kitchen. Nice walking trails (approx 2hrs so don't bring food) in the forest nearby though bears might be a concern as shown by signs of bear scratches and trapping cages. Nice cafes nearby. Dorm bed space is bigger than others with 2 dial lockers in the box bed enclosure. Get food provisions at the train station supermarket as options are limited at Tsuchiyu onsen especially during off peak season.

Excellent indoor and outdoor onsen facilities. Had breakfast and dinner and both were amazing. Very friendly staff that are egaer to help you. Hotel is by a river so it is a real joy to use the outdoor onsen. Only stayed 1 night but if back in Japan I would definitely stay again.

Friendly and helpful staff who speak English. There’s a cafe area downstairs with plenty of areas to hang out, food you can order, and books/cards to look at. They also have a free shuttle service to and from Fukushima station. The Onsen’s are tattoo friendly! The town it’s located in is really beautiful, with small shops, restaurants, and trails to explore. It was totally worth it to stay here and enjoy the hot springs and peaceful atmosphere after a long day of excursions!
