The Magnolias is an exceptional choice if you want to have a great experience that goes much further than a simple hotel. We booked the apartment for 3 days and felt like we could have stayed there for much longer. The hosts are incredibly nice people and we felt like we were really welcome and wanted there. Sarah, the host, makes sure that you don't lack any comfort and cares very nicely for your well-being. The breakfast was exceptional with a wide choice of home made products. Something we really did not expect from a private-run property where the host has to take care of everything by herself! Even though the hosts did not speak English very well every effort was made to communicate with us and make sure we had a great time there! We rarely felt so comfortable anywhere! If we ever come back to that region of France we will most definitely book the Magnolias again! Thanks again for everything!

Location was great, we paid extra for a private parking garage which was great! The kitchens were nice and both apartments had outdoor space. The beds were very comfortable too. The rain shower was nice and the automatic lighting when you return to the apartment is a great feature.

The Charles VII is a set of well-designed and constructed apartments in a gracious and very large and handsome old stone residence right on the river Vienne (a tributary of the Loire). The very gracious owners live in the main part of the building and the apartments are in a connected annex on 3 levels. We were on the middle level. Access is off the main street (Quai Charles VII) by a left turn (when driving toward the center of town) on the Rue del la Poterne and then a immediate left turn on the Rue Beaurepaire. There is available parking in a garage across that small lane. The owners met us there and gave us the keys to the electric gate and the front and apartment doors. Our strong impression was that this was a safe and secure area. The owners offered advice and support and answered our questions by text messages whenever we sent one. The middle level apartment has a patio as part of the massive stone structure from which there is an expansive view of the vast Forteresse Royale in one direction and the tree-lined river in the other. The kitchen is fully equipped including a freezer and a modern stove and refrigerator, the bath is excellent, and the living room and bedrooms very comfortable. The owners very thoughtfully provided treats exemplifying the local cuisine. In cool weather the heat can be controlled in each area and there is presumably AC in the warmer months. We were there in October.

The house is super cozy and lovely. Lots of refinements. But above all, we loved the fact that everything is done so that the traveler lacks nothing, down to the smallest detail. It's very rare to see that, and just like the hosts, we found them to be wonderful.

The location overlooking the river Vienne is beautiful with nothing but the river and forest to look out on. The house is a grand 19th century mansion. Jeanne is a delightful host serving delicious breakfasts and could not be more friendly and helpful. She has fairly limited English but will chat for hours in French. Chinon is about 6km away so it is in easy reach and has a fair selection of restaurants.

When he was informed that one of the guests was gluten free on Saturday night at 8pm (when all the shops were closed), he had a whole range of gluten free goodies ready for breakfast at 8am the following day!

Lovely 13th century apartment, although with a shared loo and bathroom between the two bedrooms. Steep and quite awkward steps to get up to the apartment, which might be a problem for some. Kitchen good, with lots of tea and coffee making equipment, plus oven and hob. Lovely living room, and amazing main bedroom. Wi-Fi worked well.TomGroup

Inside is super well decorated, amazing attention to details, the bedroom was spacious, confy, cute, quiet, and the bathroom was large with everything that you need. The breakfast is a MUST!!!! I never seen a breakfast like this before, from the king table with all silver spoon, forks, to the freshly skeeze orange juice to home made cakes, I could have stay there for hours ;-)stephanieYoung couple
