Hotel in Rye
Links Lodge at The Dunes features a restaurant, bar and shared lounge in Rye. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. Guests can have a drink at the snack bar. Links Lodge is situated at The Dunes Golf Links, one of Australia's top public golf courses. The lodging is located on the Mornington Peninsula, where several high quality public golf courses are located. I started playing golf at The Dunes in 2007 on my first trip to Australia and have regularly played there on many trips. The stylish rooms offer good space and have modern shower and plumbing fixtures. The nearby clubhouse offers a menu with good breakfast and lunch. Golf tee times can be reserved, unless the stay is booked at times when course is closed to public play, such as when large multiday tournaments are held. I've found it possible on most trips to the area to get tee times at The Dunes. I usually stay at a small cottage nearby but this time it was unavailable part of my stay. I would consider the Links Lodge at The Dunes for another stay on future visits. There are in room safes offer an extra layer of security for those concerned about safeguarding travel documents. The lodging is fairly new and opened in the last few years. It is separated from the main clubhouse by a short distance and each unit has parking which is separate from common parking areas. My room was a two minute walk to the restaurant and clubhouse.
Hotel in Melbourne CBD, Melbourne
Well set in Melbourne, Next Hotel Melbourne, Curio Collection by Hilton provides air-conditioned rooms, a fitness centre, free WiFi and a restaurant. What sets this hotel apart from other 5 star luxury hotels we stayed at in Australia and elsewhere is their exceptional customer service. All delivered in a friendly, helpful way without being stuffy or obsequious. The hotel seems fairly new. It’s very modern in its design and is immaculate. We had a Deluxe King room, which was spacious, comfortable for a 6-night stay, and very well-designed. Two examples of how well thought out the guest rooms are: 1) blackout shades completely block out light because they sit in a metal frame; 2) besides a desk, closet and other cabinetry, rooms have a long, built-in bench that holds two open roller bags plus hang luggage. I also appreciated the Nespresso machine. (As an American, I was quite surprised that most of the other 5 star luxury hotels we stayed at during our trip to Australia only had instant coffee in the room.) We would absolutely stay here again if we were in Melbourne.

Stayed at the Orange stay apartments, Victoria Harbour for 7 nights. Chose this area due to the proximity to both the city and Docklands. We could easily walk to the city for shopping, Crown casino and Docklands from our residence. A free tram stop was right outside which took us everywhere also. Walking around Melb at anytime felt safe for us as a couple as we had a few late night walks home from the Crown Casino. If visiting the Casino try the buffet as it is beautiful and well worth the cost. For a cheap snack try Schnitz also located at the Casino. Melb. Zoo is also worth a visit as it is very well set out and an easy tram ride away. Also visit St Kilda for the markets and a walk out on the pier for a lovely view and feed at the cafe. Melbourne is a great place to visit rain, hail or shine.
Melbourne never disappoints! So much to do and see. The Victoria markets were wonderful and there were a huge array of fantastic restaurants and cafe's. Thoroughly enjoyed federation square and crown casino. Trams, trains and buses made for very easy transport in and around the city. Southbank was a lovely area to stay as only a short walk to the restaurants and shopping along the Yarra River. Highly recommend.
Make use of the free tram system in the heart of Melbourne. The Emporium was wonderful to see as was the Queen Victoria Markets. Lygon Street is a must for foodies with restraunts lining both sides. The Botanical Gardens were wonderful. We started with the half hour open bus tour around then spent our own time exploring before having lunch at the tea rooms over looking the lake. The food there was delicious. A must see is the herb garden section.
The food in Melbourne is amazing. Artvo is definitely worth a visit as is the Queen Victoria Markets. Ice Bar is great for something different. Helenic Republic food never disappoints. We tried Grossi's Grill and Cellar Bar this time and they were both amazing. If you like crumpets try the home made crumpets. Most cafes seem to have them, no 2 seem to be the same but they are divine. Did the Melbourne Star, would not pay full price for it as did not love it but glad I have done it once.
Likes- easy access to transport, go to SkyDeck to orientate yourself and enjoy. Great shopping and restaurants. Love the volunteers in orange vests helping with enquiries. Loved the reasonably priced Cafe Victoria Elizabeth St for breakfast and Hardware Lane 👍 Dislikes- pedestrian and vehicle mix seems dangerous and a hazard. Museum needs to be better signed. South Bank side needs designated pathway for bikes- a big hazard especially for seniors or sensory impaired people.
The things I liked about melbourne were: The people were friendly when I got on a team and sat next to someone there was always a polite conversation. It was easy to get around with the free tram zone area. I really liked the food aspect of the queen Victoria markets. Bourke street mall was great.. We loved going to Louis Vitton and Gucci on Collins street and checking out the street out on hoiser lane. What I didnt like was; There was no clear tram timetable it was confusing. Where we stayed there was no decent restaurants to have a meal a night time. There was a lot of homeless people in the area we were staying in and they were sleeping on the ground in winter and they would come up and ask you for money. I felt sorry and scared for and of them. There were no street markets or food carts which is what I really wanted to see.
Been there many times over the last 60 plus years as a child ,as a parent and now as a retiree. There is a lot to do and see for all levels of interest and fitness. The town was packed during our stay over the June long weekend, especially the camping ground. This was an overnight stop for us. Could have stayed elsewhere but Hall's Gap has the tourist appeal. Easy commute from most Victorians and beyond. A tourist friendly town with plenty to see and do
The public transport in Melbourne and the Uber drivers are fantastic. This made it so easy to see family and explore Melbourne. The Queen Victoria Markets are a must see. So many delish restaurants and cafes. I’m looking forward to my next adventure there to see more and go further a field.
Beechworth is a historical Victorian town with many fine buildings of that period. Beechworth is known for many reasons. There are the beautiful homes, the infamous goal, the goldfields and the surrounding landscape. The stunning Autumn trees and the glorious colours. There are many interesting shops in the precinct from fine giftware, clothes and the bakery. Cafes and restaurants offer interesting selections of local produce and good coffee/wine. Once you visit Beechworth you will return many times thereafter.
Weather was nice and cool, I come from Northern NSW, so loved the change. Melbourne is a fabulous city and so easy to get around, an excellent transport system. Great laneways and fabulous cafes. Winter night Markets Wednesdays at Queen Victoria Markets a foodies paradise
Horsham
The room was very spacious and comfortable . Bed was comfy. The ensuite was also a good size and very clean. The parking bays were all large enough to take a med/large 4WD without being really close to the car parked next to it. Great amenities - nice pool and games room. Property across the road from May Park which has a playground for the kids and walking distance to petrol station and McDonalds and Victoria Hotel (next door). Even though on main road, there was not any road noise. Great place to stay for either families or couples.
Helpful and friendly staff. They go above and beyond and provided great service. The property was easy to walk to good restaurants & shopping centers, as well as Melbourne’s important landmarks and points of interests. The Shrine of Remembrance, Royal Botanical Garden, Arts Center, National Gallery of Victoria, State Library of Victoria & The Primrose Potter Australian Ballet Center. My daughter participated in the 2024 Summer School program with the Australian Ballet School, which was also a very convenient walk from the property.
Horsham
We had intended driving further but decided to stop overnight , saw this on the web site and thought it would be prefect for o/n stay and it was . Spacious cabin, comfortable bed, plenty of towels and a great heater in the bathroom ( it was a cold night ) Was actually quite as overnight and in the morning which surprised us with the location and access to the highway. Asked about somewhere to have a nice evening meal and The Victoria Hotel was recommended, had a delicious meal:)
Beechworth
We stayed for 3 nights in Beechworth Cedar Cottages. Set in beautiful gardens our 2 bedroom cottage (named Ingram) had been very well maintained and was spotlessly clean. Everything we needed was provided and the facilities generally in the cottage were excellent. I cannot recommend Beechworth Cedar Cottages more highly than to say that we found our cottage to be, without doubt, the best we have stayed in during many trips through the rural areas of Victoria, NSW and South Australia.
Ballarat
The location was great for what I needed. Close to town Centre 6 min drive. Victoria park right at front door. Quiet Neighbour hood. Apartment had car port for car right at front door. Apartment nice and clean and tidy. Everything you need for a short or long stay. Host very nice and quick responses. Nice hot bread and plenty of food for a breakfast supplied. Nice shower, spa and bidet toilet. Would stay again if back in Ballarat and available at the time.
Our stay at Brady Apartment Hotel Hardware Lane was excellent. Downstairs is the very enjoyable Brass Monkey with bar/coffee and snacks and a quick nip across the road takes you to the restaurants in Hardware Lane. It is only a few blocks straight up Queen Street to the Queen Victoria Markets and a short stroll in multiple directions to the free tram circuit. The rooms are a good size with a small kitchen, ideal for a few days away.
Halls Gap
Cockatoo Cabin is a rustic timber home which is a great as a base for exploring the Grampians region. It's a small partly renovated cabin with a modern bathroom. The cockatoos arrived on the verandah within 2 minutes of parking our car there! And they're very friendly. Plus we found a kangaroo in the front garden when returning one evening. This is the best area in Victoria for seeing Australian wildlife roaming free.
Sorrento
The room was amazingly spacious and clean with all the essentials we needed for an overnight stay. Kettle toaster microwave crockery and cutlery. Spacious bathroom and seperate toilet. Room upgrade from booking.com was an advantage. Highly recommend this accomodation. We have been on the road for over a week now staying in various motels in NSW, South Australia and Victoria. This was with no doubt the best
Ballarat
The room was of the standard one would expect of a typical Australian motor inn. The linen was fresh and the beds were neatly made. In terms of location, Victoriana Motor Inn is very well situated. It is about a 5 min drive to Sovereign Hill, on the right side of Ballarat for easy access to Kryal Castle, and there is a supermarket and very nice wood-fired takeaway pizzeria about 4-5 mins walk away.
Bright
Chestnut Tree Holiday units are set in one of the most beautiful surroundings of Bright, Victoria with immaculate gardens and terrific views from the rooms. Our apartment was super clean and well decorated, beds super comfy and the hosts have gone above and beyond making sure all is provided for a comfortable stay. One of the top places we have stayed at in Victoria. Look forward to returning.
Portland
Lorelei B&B is a great place. It will make you travel through time back to the Victorian period, nonetheless with all expected modern comfort. Roger welcomed us in warm way, and we had interesting conversations about the region, and its history. In spite of the bad weather, it was the best place we were over 3 weeks we spent in Australia. Wifi , bathroom spa, breakfirst ++
Melbourne
Convenient location, close to trams, subway and the Queen Victoria Market. I could go to the market and buy some great fresh food. The hotel kindly upgraded our room to one with a park view, which was very nice. We could have fresh air through a small balcony. Very well sound insulated. This property has its parking.
Port Fairy
We stayed at the Victoria Apartments a few years ago so when we decided to visit Port Fairy again it was a no brainer where we would stay. The 2 bedroom apartment suited us (3 adults) perfectly, spacious & well maintained. The location is ideal - walking distance to the shops/eating venues.
The villa at McMillans was excellent. We were unfortunate to arrive when the weather across Victoria was the wettest for many years so did not get to enjoy the villa or Metung. The villa was excellent, really well equipped, in a great spot and all we hoped for when planning our trip to Australia
The Jasper Hotel is convenient to transport (tram) and a short walk to Queen Victoria Markets. Cafes nearby for breakfast, lunch or coffee with a few restaurants as well. Our room was very clean, comfortable, light and with a good-sized bathroom. I have stayed here before and have booked again.
Ballarat
Same owners as the Victoriana Hotel - so the same standard. Rooms clean, but a little dated. Cutlery and eating utensils appreciated. Shower was spacious and full flow (which is always appreciated) WiFi seemed fine where I used it. Easy to park. Pizza guy found my room easy...
Melbourne
We drove to Melbourne & needed to garage it overnight. Wilson carpark next door to city stays which was great for us. Hotel is within walking distance to Queen Victoria markets which we really like. Easy walk to free tram & CBD. Excellent bathroom.
Melbourne
Location! The hotel is in the CBD and free tram zone, a quick ride or walk to entertainment and tourist attractions. Yet it is an escape on a quiet street and overlooks the one-story Queen Victoria Market. Rooms! are well designed and very clean.
Melbourne
Nice apartment with full facilities and beautiful view of Melbourne. Great location next to city center. Close to restaurants and cafes. Minutes walk to Queen Victoria Market. Owner responded promptly and arranged parking despite late request.
Melbourne
Room is clean with furniture and all amenities you may need. It was also good and reasonably priced. The hotel is walking distance to Victoria Market. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurants nearby the hotel opened till late night.
