It feels like we are living in the forest and it is so peaceful. The hotel is very well decorated, small but elegant. And the price is so resonable. Not to mention the simple breakfast is so delicious. We like the milk and sausage. We'd love to come back if possible.

Offering a seasonal outdoor pool, Shipka IT Hotel is set 500 metres from Shipka’s centre and several restaurants and shops. There is an infrared sauna as well as a steam bath on site. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Apart from that great thanks to the couple who run the hotel who couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself looks very pretty, and outside was a beautiful garden with an amazing swimming pool. 10/10 recommend.

Enjoying a quiet location near the forest and a river, the Guest House Verbena is located in Apriltsi at the foot of the Stara Planina Mountain. It consists of 2 houses built in 1898. The house is in a very quiet area, surrounded by forest and a small river, providing a nice availability for short and long walks. The interior is lovely and cozy. We enjoyed the high-quality homemade food, which was plentiful. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay and were able to completely relax.

Gabrovo in the heart of Bulgaria
Gabrovo is the Bulgarian capital of humour and if you go in May you may see the carnival of humour. The House of Humour has a unique collection of cartoons from all over the world and organises a biennial of humour and satire (the next one is in 2017). The ethnographic museum Etara is worth a visit and is only a few kilometres from the town centre. Here you can get a glimpse of the local crafts people in their workshops. Using original instruments they make beautiful pots, rugs, jewellery, and traditional music instruments. You can combine the trip to the Etara with a visit to the Sokolski Monastery where in the little blue top church you will find some exquisite frescos. The old Bulgarian capital Veliko Turnovo is under an hour's drive from Gabrovo. Don't miss visiting the little mountain town of Triavna and Bozenci village.
