Angoville-au-Plain
This beautifully set-up recreation of aWW2 Normandy farm house is a stunning place to stay. Close to the American D-Day beaches and numerous airborne drop zones it is the perfect spot for historical touring. The owner Charles is a wonderful host, even transporting my son and I to a local restaurant and the train station . The museum outside Carentan was a brilliant bonus visit but Charles’ wonderful hotel with its authentic atmosphere, comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast was the highlight of our brief visit!
This hotel needs an overhaul, the accommodation was very tired. Our air con did not work, plug sockets coming away from the wall and a lot of black mould on the bathroom tile grout. The photos give a good idea of the room size, but it’s all in need of a revamp. The staff were friendly when checking in and helpful when we asked for additional fans. The beds were clean and comfortable and if all you need is some where to crash after a day out on the D-day beaches the location is excellent with secure parking.
Lovely hotel, great location for the port and seeing the D-day beaches and area. Restaurants/bars within walking distance. Great sandy beach and plenty to do if you have children. Would of liked a kettle for tea/coffee but not a game changer. We were on the 3rd floor, 6 flights of stairs, so if you have walking difficulties you should think about it as there is no lift, or just ask for a lower level room. Overall, lovely friendly hotel, rooms clean and tidy. Definitely would stay here again 👏👏
Centre of the port with numerous restaurants within a few hundred metres. Though finding a parking space was a bit difficult, even the local car parks are all free. The room was okay, the shower fitting was in need of repair - but worked fine and there was plenty of hot water. We didn't take breakfast and to be honest used the hotel as somewhere to sleep after touring the D-Day beaches, for which it was pretty well situated. The port is very pretty and played its own part in 1944.
Arromanches-les-Bains
The large room on the top floor was beautifully updated and spotless with a great Channel view. The owner, Marie Caroline was most helpful during our stay and to honor June 6th in the name of the hotel was really special. We chose the location because it is about in the middle of the 5 D-Day Beaches and the town with its rich history was really nice too. Breakfast was delicious every morning and dinner at both of Marie Caroline's restaurants was spectactular.
Room was large and clean. Centrally located. Breakfast was excellent. When I walked into the hallway in the morning, it smelled so wonderful! Mathieu is the owner of this small hotel and takes great pride in his work. We also contracted him to drive and tour guide our exploration of the D-Day beaches of Normandy. He recommended the best places and museums.. We were extremely pleased and learned so much. Thank you!
The hotel was ideally located in the centre of Caen. Caen is very nice, with plenty of restaurants and shops. Driving in the region is good, with little traffic if you are exploring the D-Day beaches. The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. I arrived early morning from the overnight ferry and they allowed me to use the bathroom to get washed ahead of my afternoon check in.
The hotel was good value for the money we paid. Room was small but clean and comfortable, shower and toilet area was really small but it was ok. hotel was in a great area, near restaurants and bars, and pretty central to do all the D-day beaches. Breakfast was nice, coffee cereal, croissants, yogurt, just enough to start the day. staff were nice and friendly, a basic hotel but would stay again.
The manager at reception was very helpful. The location is excellent to visit the D-Day beaches and sightsee through Normandy. If you have a car, there is a parking lot across the street that is free from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The room was very clean but extremely tiny-which is the norm for many hotels throughout Europe. Overall, we were very happy with the hotel.
The location is superb. It's in sight of the cathedral and close to everything of interest. it is also very close to the Normandy D-Day beaches for those interested. Staff are warm and friendly. Parking is not free but is very convenient. Our favourite hotel in Bayeux. Walking in the town after dark - much lit up beautifully - is not to be missed.
Everything was excellent - the room, the location, the comfort, the breakfast and the staff. The hotel had a very nice atmosphere - everyone satisfied with the extensive breakfast buffet and tasty dinners. Very helpful ,yet discreet staff. Great location to visit tapestry museum and D-day beaches. Parking spots need to be reserved.
Didn’t realise that the rooms were apartment style which was fantastic. And the location was perfect especially as we were visiting from the uk and seeing the d-day beaches and the memorials and the added bonus of seeing the bayeux tapestry all in just a 15 minute walk. All round fantastic stay and will be coming back.
Good location for touring Bayeux and the D-Day beaches. It has a nice restaurant that we have dined at before and looked forward to using again, but the restaurant is closed on Monday (the hotel gave some conflicting advice on that topic in their email to us). Good (free) wi-fi with no silly log-in process.
Saint-Vigor-le-Grand
Ideal location, 15 min walk to town centre. ideal to nip into town to pick up fresh produce for breakfast each day. Perfect for family of 4, lots of space, well equipped kitchen, dinning room and lounge to relax in evening. lots of parking next to apartment. ideal location for visiting D-Day beaches.
The hotel's prime location offered easy access to the historic D-Day Beaches, just an hour away from Le Havre. The hotel staff extended a remarkably friendly and warm welcome, setting the tone for a delightful stay. Furthermore, the breakfast provided an ideal start to the day ahead.
Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer
