The property is at the foot of Skiddaw, overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake. everything . thé location thé staff who were so accommodating and went out of their way to make my stay a memorable one . I arrived late and dinner was no problem and I set out for an early run and they did everything so that I could have breakfast before I left . my single room was so cosy and comfortable and the hotel is charming . sitting around the fire relaxing in the evening with a nice hot chocolate was perfect and the food was delicious too .

Set in 2 acres of tranquil wooded gardens. The charming rooms have TVs and tea and coffee facilities, and many have breathtaking views of the valley and fells. The staff and hotel was exceptional. The room was beautiful and the bed very comfortable. Would definitely stay in again in the future.

We loved the rustic romantic room, with large balcony and fireplace. The view of the lake was amazing, the sounds of the stream and the majestic gardens was something out of a movie The spa was so fun, and the soak in the heated pool at sunset was perfectly romantic. Top tip set your alarm an hour before sunrise, get your self up and be in wonder of the perfect night sky. You might just be lucky enough to see a shooting star or 10! 5mims walk to the right and you can start one of the most idelic walks ever.

The location is really great as you have a beautiful Bassenthwaite lake nearby. It's also a short drive from Dodd wood which offers trails for all abilities, overlooking the beautiful. Keswick time is just 10 minutes drive and the lake of Derwentwater is also about a 20 minute drive. The facilities of the hotel are great, the restaurant is very good with a good choice even for vegetarians. The breakfast is sumptuous and served by very friendly staff. The restaurant is big and offers great views of the surrounding hills.

Going with family I wanted a discount self catering option in or close to Keswick and the Derwentwater Hotel did not disappoint. Literally 2 miles from the center. 2 Bed apartment was more than spacious for 4 people with everything we needed for our short stay. And the location was spot on with beautiful grounds to walk around too. Staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough. Prices were reasonable in the restaurant and bar where we spent the evening relaxing.

Our room was lovely and although not modern and up to date perfectly reflected the building and its surroundings and everything worked and was clean. The restaurant for breakfast was great and there was more than enough options with a lovely view across the lawn.

The breakfasts were very good and the choice was great. The hotel is also dog friendly as are most of the places we visited in Keswick We would definitely recommend this hotel and we would come back again.

The staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival, and the hotel itself was beautifully looked after. I was kindly given an upgrade to a bigger room (East Turret) which was really warm and comfortable with stunning views of both the mountains and Derwentwater. Breakfast was included in the room price and was delicious, set me up very well for a full day of hiking!

This was a very comfortable place to stay. We stayed in 6 different locations on a 2 week tour of England and frankly this was the best bed of any place we stayed. The room was so comfortable. Loved our stay in this recently renovated hotel. We hiked in Whinlatter Forest and explored Keswick, The Ruddings was situated perfectly in the middle. The staff were very helpful, food was delicious, and as someone traveling in a car, there was plenty of parking!
