Beautiful view from our sea view room. The stag was so kind and attentive. They let us pay early because we needed to leave in the early morning. The location of the hotel was perfect for the train travel we did. The breakfast was beyond what we expected and was excellent. We are Americans and there was a mix of Western and Japanese foods. It was nice to have familiar fare, but also to try new dishes. The staff was very attentive and polite. Cleaning of the room was thorough. We appreciated having a laundry facility on site, and the storage of our bags after check out and before our final departure were very helpful.

Fukui has many undiscovered sights!
Fukui has many undiscovered sights! We shall definitely go back again. The Dinosaur Museum exhibit was fantastic, even better than those in other countries. Well worth the drive up! As it is a small city, many places such as restaurants would do great with more picture menus to help foreigners order food even without English. As we speak simple Japanese, it was okay for us but this hidden city should really have more tourists!

At a short distance from Fukui city you can see Eiheiji, Fukui dinosaur museum, and Ono-castle. All these spots are well integrated with the nature around it, the mountains are beautiful year round and the countryside of Fukui feels specially relaxing. Fukui city itself has cheap but comfortable accommodations, some restaurants around the station, and provides easy access to many ski-resorts, Hakusan, and express trains to Osaka, Kyoto, and Nagoya.

I love to stay in Taki's Guesthouse. He is very nice guy. He is detailed mind. He planned the best schedule to us. I really happy to stay in Taki during my tour in Fukui. With Taki's information and drove us everywhere, my trip in Fukui was very nice and unforgettable. I hope I can stay at Taki's house again when I was in Fukui in the nearly future.

As I didn't eat at the hotel, I cannot make any judgment about the food quality, but for me the access to several top onsen in the hotel, beside the several public ones in the town made my stay at the hotel very pleasant. One of them is even open all night long until 10AM. My traditional bedroom was also a strong point. At some point after I checked in, someone came and prepared my bed. The staff was very nice, and despite their limited English, made its utmost to serve me. The hotel is located within 5 minutes from a bus station, close to Awaraonsen and from which you can board a bus to Eihei-ji temple or Tojimbo in the other direction. If you wish to visit both places, you can buy a two day pass for this bus line.

We were delighted with our visit. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. It was one of three onsens we visited, and I must say it was as good as the others, which were more expensive. They were also very good about meeting us at the station with their limo bus. Very enjoyable.
