Veracruz is a diverse destination that can be enjoyed for business or pleasure!! Old fashioned and very cultured to Mexican tradition that everyone can enjoy!! Affordable hotels, transportation, recreational activities are a little minimal but if its a resort getaway(business ventures as well) Veracruz can meet your needs or even exceed expectations!!! Domu sushi, Best Western Boka buffet breakfast, Army Wings, Cachorrito, Villa Rica, Favoritos, and lastly a Veracruz must Paroquia (spell check) is remarkable from price to quality!!!
A small little university town, Xalapa (or Jalapa as its also spelt) is less known for Jalapenos and better known for its Archeology Museum with a brilliant collection of the nearby Olmecan culture from the San Lorenzo and La Venta sites. The best place I visited in the state of Veracruz and the best place to get Veracruz cuisine.
Poza Rica comes right after Reynosa, Tamaulipas on the list of least attractive cities in Mexico. It is purely based on petroleum production and yet very ppor and run down. It is pretty shabby overall and has no attractive spots whatsoever. Only positive thing is that there were no shootouts like in Reynosa. People are pretty unfriendly for some reason most of the time and its hard to get people talking as they appear not really talkative in general in that part of Veracruz. Was ok for the weather but overall a city to not come back, unless you have business there.
we traveled around Veracruz a lot with friends and was great BOCO del Rio was quiet clean and we had no trouble at all. we eat at a lot of different places and it was very nice,
My favourite place is the Zocalo with Marimba and Mariachi music while you dine in one of the restaurants or just watch the people while having a cup of coffee in the afternoon. Veracruz is a safe place, but the sidewalks are in a terrible condition, watch your steps, especially when it's dark! A lot of garbage nobody takes care of ... Taxi price in the center area is 35 Pesos, Uber not admitted ...
I recomment Boca del Rio (part of Veracruz). Best beach in Veracruz. Nice promenade for walking, jogging and just strolling and good restaurants. Villa Rica (sea food restaurant) is still okay but best fish (red snapper fillet, prawns, etc.) at La Mera Madra. Also service is outstanding.
Boca del Río (where the hotel is) is growing Up niceley, several malls, ok beach lots of restaurants of all types and budgets. Veracruz, specially downtown, is heavily abandoned, deteriorated, polluted beach and streets. Many beggars and homeless people. General sense of unrest. Historical and gobernment buildings are falling apart. Still, Museo de la Marina is very nice and food nearby is still awesome.
Veracruz has some nice sights near the port, the historic center and the "Portales". The Malecon is pretty nice in Boca del Rio. Go for breakfast to the Parroqueria. In general, you can find very good food in Veracruz. The beaches in the city itself are not great compared to other beach locations, but the water was clear and the sand was clean.
There wasn’t much life around, which is strange for a Saturday night in Mexico. The only visible activity during the day were the fishermen in action on the river... walking through the nice colonial streets it felt kinda lonely ghost town. Too many stray dogs on the streets. The town looks on the edge of flooding, so many sand bags to prevent from flooding from the river, it looks like the water level is now higher than the town itself. Not too exciting as a Unesco World Heritage site, but dinner (local fish) was great, we felt safe, the road to get from Veracruz is ok, even if there are potholes. The visit doesn’t take longer than a couple of hours strolling around, we wouldn’t know what to do, if we had a full day there!
Located in the tropical lowlands of Veracruz state, next to a fast running river, surrounded by mango trees and other fruit trees. Lots of birds and great views, great place to enjoy nature. The local food is very tasty, you'll find good food here.
Location was perfect if you are interested in historic Veracruz, the port, the Zocalo, the architecture and the history. Sometimes when the price of something is so inexpensive you think to yourself, there must be something wrong. The value is amazing for what is offered at Hotel Mucara. My only suggestion to the hotel is the bed linens and towels could be improved on, but the room with great balcony overlooking the street, with great air conditioner , large bathroom for around $18.00 USD per night was a travelers bargain. Thank you Mucara .
It is clean and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The beach is really close and of good size. Other areas of Veracruz have suffered some erosion, meaning the beach has shrunk and the water is a lot closer to the edge of hotels, here is a lot better than other hotels I’ve stayed. The restaurant service is pretty good, with competitive prices and good flavor. The staff that helps arrange chairs, umbrellas at pool are very nice and helpful.
It's a very quaint hotel in Veracruz. You have to understand that it's not a resort town and there isn't much outside tourism it's mainly going to be locals from 2-3 hours away that come visit the hotel so don't expect any crazy amenities. The hotel is very quiet if you're looking for a weekend getaway. Staff was friendly and I liked that the rooms were big and very private for the most part.
Dollar for dollar, every bit worth the price in comparison to the usually overpriced hotels. I couldn't believe it. The best value I could find in all of Veracruz. Traveling with my uncle, we asked for a room with two beds, but it actually cost less to pay for two rooms with a single bed. I had my own room! The place was charming, a real taste of Mexican decor. Unlimited coffee offered in the lobby.
Gran Hotel Diligencias is located on Veracruz's main plaza near many of the city's best bars and restaurants. The hotel is older and could probably use a refresh, but the rooms are large and clean with good Wi-Fi and a flat screen TV. There aren't a lot of reasonably-priced hotels in central Veracruz, so Gran Hotel Diligencias is a decent option if you're budget conscience.
Just over a block to the beachfront, great parking, staff wonderful. The room was very clean and the shower had hot water - who could ask for more from basic accommodations! I had a very early flight out so this was perfect for staying in Veracruz the night before. I wanted easy out and budget but something where I could walk over to the waterfront. Would stay again if a similar need occurs.
I did not expect the staff to speak English and they did not but they allowed me to check in at 7 o'clock in the morning. You should learn at least a little Spanish when visiting Veracruz. When I woke up I saw a balcony looking over palm trees and the ocean. The hotel pool & hot tub are nice and quiet and good. The cleaning staff were very polite.
Wonderful rooms very nicely constructed and appointed. Great staff. Very pet friendly, even asked us if we needed food for our dog. Great location, walking distance to the beach and a wide variety of restaurants and outdoor cafés. Veracruz is a great city, with a wonderful laid -back vibe. We would definitely come back and stay here again.
At 40 minutes from airport, 30 minutes from bus terminal, but in the middle between Bocal de Rio and Veracruz downtown so neither you can do walking! Breakfast is great plenty of variety but expensive so if it’s is not included in your rate my suggestion is have breakfast in other of the much restaurants in the mall where the hotel is
A very simple hotel which fulfilled expectations given the low price. I chose it because it is very close (5km) to the airport in Veracruz AND they have a free shuttle service which means you don't have to deal with the totally dishonest, thieving Mexican taxi drivers who rob you 24 out of 25 times you use one.
Great place for exploring Veracruz! It’s not a super fancy hotel, but it’s very good for such a low price and it’s close to the beach, which makes it a great place if you want to watch sunrise by the Gulf. There are some good breakfast places nearby and the city center is now very far if you like walking
The location is really nice, and can walk to the Veracruz port. The surrounding is beautiful and the room is really nice. Also, the most important, I made a mistake when I book the hotel (I booked in another day), and finally the staff helped us to get a room when I arrived. I really appreciate it.
The staff was very helpful and attentive. The hotel is very close to the malecon. I can't say I saw any bugs inside, so that was a pleasant surprise given the overall look and feel. For such a boring place there is an astounding concentration of beautiful women in Veracruz.
I love the location of this hotel, close to the ocean, the aquarium, and different places to eat. The staff is always friendly and willing to help. I usually stay at this hotel when I go to Veracruz because it has adequate parking and the rooms and linens are clean.
Veracruz
Bright, spacious apartment with three double bedrooms and two bathrooms. Well-equipped kitchen (for basic cooking). Helpful response from owner to any questions I had.Veracruz well worth a visit.
its pretty well know, locals call it the venetian experience in veracruz, its got its own parking lot, rooms are big and comfortable, its quiet and peaceful and pet friendly!
Best location in Veracruz! I used to live in the apartments behind this hotel and almost exclusively stay here when I come back to visit!!
It was right by the Zocalo, as we were staying to run the Veracruz Marathon, the hotel was right by the start line and finish line.
The restaurant and event area are lovely and the location is great for Veracruz! The staff were polite and everything was clean.
Great views beautiful hotel I didn't care about the maintenance needs. Will definitely stay next time I am in veracruz.
