This was a last-minute find after another booking cancelled due to Cyclone Gabrielle damage, and we were very pleasantly surprised to find it in such prime location right on Lake Taupo, with nice walking path at lake's edge, a nice pool, walking distance to restaurant at Two Mile Bay Sailing Club, short drive to downtown, and a spacious 2-story unit that felt like a nice apartment. Helpful management & staff. Wish we'd had more than one night to stay and enjoy this fabulous find!!

We stayed at many hotels during our tour of New Zealand. Lake Taupo Motor Inn stands out as the best of the best. Why? Because it ticks all the boxes - friendly staff (they let us check-in early - really appreciated this), a quick and stress-free check-in, huge rooms (with a patio!), fantastic location - town center and the lake both a short walk away. Can park right up to your room, makes things much easier with heavy suitcases, And great value for money. It deserves all the stars.

The location was great with an amazing view of the lake and just what my wife and I needed on our honeymoon. It was great as a jumping off point to visit the surrounding areas like Lake Taupo itself and Tongariro National Park as we visited various Lord of the Rings filming locations surrounding and on the volcanoes. The room was clean and very spacious, with one of the largest bathrooms in our three week's staying all across New Zealand.

wonderful stay with great views of countryside. the Hosts, Peter and Michelle, were welcoming and helpful. The 2BR apartment is very spacious and comfortable. Beds are very comfortable (firm) and kitchen/bathroom amenities are first class. Very much felt like staying in someone's home. For those wanting a relaxing stay overlooking Lake Taupo, I highly recommend this place.

Amazing Hotel, don’t stay anywhere else! What we loved most was the staff: great attitude of everyone especially the host at the bar and breakfast. Fantastic chat and lovely team. Of course the highlight of this place is the hot swimming pool and hot tub which are open until 10pm, so even after a long day and swim in the cold lake taupo, great chance to warm up. Highly recommend!!!

Excellent accommodation to stay in Lake Taupo, amazing welding, owners so helpful . Fabulous all round. Thank you, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves staying with you. Great base for travelling around area! Owners work hard and so helpful. Perfect for us with teenage lads and two apartments . Perfect, so lovely to stay.

The hostel is close to Lake Taupo, a few minutes walk away, and the old gentleman in charge of the front desk of the hostel is very professional, nice and efficient to check in. Parking is easy, you can park directly at the door of the room, the room is very clean. Recommended to stay

The location was exemplary, looking out over Lake Taupo. The facilities (bed, shower, room) were all of the highest order and the staff were friendly and supportive. This was easily the best room that we have stayed in so for on our travels through New Zealand's North Island

It is good value for the money and located near the lake Taupo. However, wifi becomes really slow in the evening. Kitchen and washrooms are in a separate building compared to the other hostels that I have been staying. But there is shower and toliet near the room.

I loved the views from our apartment to lake Taupo, stunning!! The apartment was large, tidy, quiet and had all the facilities you could need. The restaurant and bar area was cosy and warm. The food was amazing. Nice walk to the lake from the apartments.

Location to lakefront swimming. Quaint room with frig. Good restaurant in Hotel proximity with a Nice view of lake Taupo. Parking convenient. Their jacuzzi was hot, great for after lake ( cold this Summer) swim. Which was appreciated.

Charming and well equipped apartment in quiet and beautiful location, close to Lake Taupo. The outdoor bathtub and view of mount Tauhara was a plus. Very friendly hosts . Would certainly love to stay there again

Location is next to Lake Taupo and within walking distance to restaurants and convenience stores nearby (~5 to 10 minutes). Rooms were very clean with kitchen amenities. We rented a two-bedroom apartment.

The location was great. A two minute walk from a beautiful swimming beach on Lake Taupo. The unit was nice and big, like a small apartment. So much better than staying in one room with no room to move.

A great location, on the edge of Taupo. A few hundred metres from Lake Taupo, but due to its elevation, has a great view over/onto the lake.

Great location, directly on Lake Taupo, with plenty of restaurants and cafe nearby. Friendly staff, great facilities. Very nice hotel.

The staff were friendly and helpful generally in my interactions with them It isn't far if you want to swim in Lake Taupo

Huge apartment with quality inclusions, set in a magnificent garden setting with stunning views of Lake Taupo.

Good for one night and just 3 min away from lake Taupo and the restaurants amd bars.
