Built in 1911 and renovated with many of the original features carefully retained, the Grand Hotel in Alingsås is conveniently situated within 100 metres of the Alingsås train station. Very good much to choose from. Waiters supervised it all the time.

We stumbled on this place while looking for a layover between Copenhagen and Oslo. My kids and husband play disc golf, so the course here was a draw, and they had marked running trails for me. The hotel itself was a really wonderful surprise: the rooms were huge for families (separate bunk room for the kids), with the summer light our kids were allowed to play soccer golf well past 10pm, and the food was very good. I wish we had stayed more than one night and I will recommend it to anyone doing a driving holiday through Sweden (especially golfers!) This is a gorgeous and well appointed little house in the back garden of the proprietor's house but with all windows pointing away from the main building it feels quite private anyway. There's enough private car parking space for two cars and it has all the modern creature comforts you could wish for including very quick internet and streaming TV services.

Nääs Slott is a beautiful castle with an enthralling history and contains a complete and untouched 19th century interior. Visiting the castle is like stepping back in time to the late 1800s. We were able to have the entire south wing to ourselves. It has library, big dining area, 2 toilets and kitchen. We walked around the castle early morning and the view is just amazing, it is very peaceful and calm.

Housed in an atmospheric 1920s building, this central B&B is just 2 minutes’ walk from Alingsås Station and the city’s main street, Kungsgatan. All rooms feature free Wi-Fi and cable TV. The breakfast was amazing and the host was just so lovely
