You are already quite remote in this part of ZA but once they bring you up with the 4x4 the only people you will encounter are those on the premise itself. The staff is very friendly and the food is great. All in all great value and a very relaxing place with great views and hikes!

Montusi Lodge will always be among the most special places we have ever visited. The grounds are gorgeous and location stunning - remote, with birdsong, epic views towards the Drakensberg amphitheatre and spectacular skies. The food is superb with a daily changing menu and we looked forward to 4 course dinners each evening (and the wine list!). We stayed 5 nights and hiked every day. Before we got there, Dumisani was super helpful with pre-organising transfers to the Royal Natal National Park (about 25km) which has fabulous hiking. Shorter self-guided trails can also be done on the Montusi estate, right from the lodge. A really impressive operation for such a remote location and hosts Lindsey & Mick and their lovely team are to be congratulated. Thanks for making us so welcome and accommodating our thirst for the great outdoors!

Set just 39 km from Sterkfontein Dam Nature Reserve, Relaxing Holiday Home features accommodation in Phuthaditjhaba with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as a shared kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The place is spacious and clean. We had a bed for everybody (4 double beds in 3 bedrooms). There were 2 tvs both having DSTV and Netflix so that the kids can watch different shows to us. No load shedding! The place is set up so the TV's and lights continue to work despite load shedding. There is even a power bank so that you can charge your devices. Gas cooktop so that you can still cook as well. Plenty of cookware, crockery and cutlery available. We really enjoyed our stay, it was a lovely break away from home.
