Riu atoll review Met in arrivals lounge by rep and taken for complimentary breakfast at one of the airport dining facilities. Afterwards, accompanied to check-in for departure to Kudahuvadhoo. Very smooth and efficiently executed. Bravo Riu Atoll! Flew on time and arrived at the small Dhaalu airport. We checked in two bags because the hand luggage allowance is 5kg only. There was no delay in getting our checked bags and we were directed to a bus for a short journey to the jetty. From the jetty, we boarded a large boat (50 pax capacity) - with plenty of space and comfort. The journey across the sea took around 20 minutes and the mesmerising Riu resort comes into view. There was a brief presentation about the resort and the facilities and activities as well as mention of the need to be mindful of COVID-19 and follow protocols. A lovely refreshing drink awaits you as the check in process gets underway. Alberto, the resort manager himself, accompanied us part way to our beach villa. The holiday begins as soon as the door opens and the beautiful white sandy beach and glittering blue sea come into view from your veranda/balcony window. Excellent first impression Riu. You had us looked after from the moment we got through immigration!

Riu has a hotel app from which you can arrange just about anything, order/change/check just about anything and find out what activities/events are happening on the day. You are encouraged to download it at check-in, I wish I had downloaded it even before then. It is probably the way forward for most hotels nowadays. So convenient - no need to be waiting on unanswered calls at front desk. Pretty much everything you need to know and more is there on the app!

The room is modern, clean and practical. Let’s face it, we don’t come to the Maldives to stay cooped up in a hotel room. The beach, the warm blue ocean, the snorkelling, diving and other water sports will soak up a lot of your time.

Our stay at Sun Siyam Vilu Reef was amazing! Our first time in The Maldives, we had started out the trip with a few days in Male. Sun Siyam had offered free seaplane transfers for stays for 4 nights and more, and this was arranged from the hotel we were checking out from, to the airport, and to Sun Siyam. We were welcomed by our designated host for the stay – Sopa – who provided all information we needed, and kept in touch with us throughout the stay. We had booked a bed and breakfast option, and the in-villa dining was good for meals in the villa when we preferred to stay indoors. The buffet-style dining for dinner was great. The staff was very friendly, we had welcome drinks on arrival, and the villa was more than we could imagine. We had access to the beautiful ocean and went kayaking on one afternoon. We had a chance swim by with a baby shark and saw dolphins while watching the sunset. Our agent and housekeeper made the stay special.

Everything. Beginning from meeting in the airport Male & lounge Baglioni Resort in Male (kind atmosphere, beautiful and smiling personal). Location of course with white sand, green palms, different fish (I saw a lot of time very small shark close to the beach! They are so funny). Exiting ocean with different colours from sunrise till sunset. And sunsets are BOMB! It’s exiting spectacle with different colours. Fresh fruits, fresh juices, delicious meals in all restaurants. Great thanks all Resort’s staff for this resort, for your assistance, for your daily work that guests can visit your Resort and relax with mind and body.
