You are really in nature. When checking in, the owner showed us an elephant footprint just next to our hut. One morning we saw a hornbill on the adjacent balcony. View from the balcony to Sigiriya Rock is amazing. Room is quite spacious for us to open three suitcases at the same time. There are mosquito nets on some of the windows to keep them open during the night. We were welcomed in style with tea and palm sugar based sweet. Chena Huts was the only place where we received such welcome. Breakfast was freshly prepared and plentiful. Each room has stairs to go up to, the owner helped to bring our luggages to the room. They can also book elephant safaris, however they are conscious about conflict of interests with driver companies organizing a full tour. Make sure to clarify what is agreed and not agreed as part of your driver contract.

The first place in Srí Lanka so far i really felt like an appreciated guest. The owner of the place acted really like our personal guide through our staying and all of that in free of charge, he explained many things including the basic history of Sigiriya and even brought us to a place where we could see a wild elephand next to the road. They even picked us up and drop us off with tuktuk when we went out for dinner. Its already long but just one more thing to mention: I headed to the shop ( located 10 mins ago) for water when they just came after me and give me few bottles from their store to spare me the walking. Aliya Resort and Spa - Thema Collection is set amidst lush tropical foliage. Situated just opposite Sigiriya Rock, the resort boasts an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre and 4 dining options. Free Wi-Fi access is available in this property. We stay there 3 nights and it was amazing experience. All the staff was very kind, always taking care of all the details, it was our honeymoon and they give us a cake for dessert on our first meal. Our flight arrived in the middle of the night and we arrived at the hotel at 5:00AM and they prepare our room and allow us to do the check in earlier. It was super comfortable.
